A weird heartwarming story about dead people

Hotel Limbo V01 by Ben Harel

by Leave a Comment

Okay, Hotel Limbo V01 by Ben Harel….  What the h-e-double hockey sticks did I read? This is one confusing, wild, unusual and crazy book. In other words, it is a must read. Okay, readers. I cannot tell you the story. Sure I can but it then tells you everything you would experience and honestly you should go into this book with no preconceptions other than that it is a journey and experience. But I will say we deal with death. Except it’s funny. Until it […]

Bzzing read

Little Bee and the Bloom by Carly Kremer and Katie Hunt

Little Bee and the Bloom by Carly Kremer and Katie Hunt is a fun, sweet rhyming way to learn about bees and flowers. It has cute illustrations that make it a bouncy, bright, colorful and energetic read. No, I was not blown away, but I enjoyed it. The thing I liked is that it is a good way to introduce the concept to the older toddler and preschooler aged child. And you could even read it to a kindergartner or they could read it with […]

Justice for Wrongs Done

Soul Machine by Jordana Globerman

by Leave a Comment

There are bumps in the actual story arc of Soul Machine by Jordana Globerman. It feels as if this was book two or there was some sort of introduction in a previous book. We are never truly told what The Soul is (outside of assuming it is one’s “spiritual” soul), what the machine our cast of character use actually does, who are the customers of the company (outside of people, but why do they need them is not explained) and the characters, especially their backgrounds, […]

Success is the goal; teamwork is the game

Strikers: A Graphic Novel by Kiel Phegley and Jacques Khouri

With the Heated Rivalry craze, hockey romance books are getting a push. However, hockey has always been there. Maybe not as a romance, but it has been there. And one of those books was Strikers: A Graphic Novel by Kiel Phegley and Jacques Khouri (illustrator). Published back in 2023, this graphic novel is a fun story about friendship and teamwork. There is no romance, unless you want to say there is a bromance between the team as a whole. They are the worst team in […]

And you can read this book and that book and this other one….

Millie Fleur's Pumpkin Problem by Christy Mandin

Millie Feur’s Worst Day Ever by Christy Mandin

My reading experiences have allowed me to find several solo reads and books in series that just really grab me and I get terribly excited over. One series that are more companions than true sequels are the Millie Fleur books by Christy Mandin. Having read the first two, Millie Fleur’s Poison Garden and Millie Fleur Saves the Night I figured that reading the third, Millie Fleur’s Pumpkin Problem would be a no-brainer read.  Thankfully, considering how spooky Millie can be, there were no brains (in a […]

The other hockey romance

Hockey Girl Loves Drama Boy by Faith Erin Hicks

by Leave a Comment

Back in 2023 Hockey Girl Loves Drama Boy by Faith Erin Hicks came out. It seemed to not get the attention that other graphic novels by her seemed to get. Or at least, I didn’t see the push for it. Which is sad, since it is a fun book with romance, theater, hockey, and how it relates to life. Hicks weaves an interesting story together that gets you thinking. There were a couple of bumps in the flow for me, but overall, it was a […]
