A Cat Is a Cat in Any Life by Ema Tohyama
One thing I like about working in a bookstore is that there are always ways to get free books and/or books you wouldn’t purchase for yourself, therefore never read. And A Cat Is a Cat in Any Life by Ema Tohyama is one of those types of books. I got it for free and it wouldn’t have picked it up otherwise. Do you like manga, cats and off beat humor? Okay, they are here. I like cats. Enjoy manga. And do not mind off beat […]
Frostbite: A Graphic Novel by Ian Boothby and Pia Guerra
Frostbite: A Graphic Novel by Ian Boothby and Pia Guerra is the type of graphic novel that I would have read as a teen. If I had read graphic novels. So, therefore, I should say, if it was a novel, it would have been up my alley. It might surprise you I did read these types of books as a teen as I have never liked horror. However, as an adult I realized that I can do horror if there is a thriller element and […]
Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees: Rite of Spring by Patrick Horvath and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou
Back in November 2025 I found out that book two in the Beneath the Trees series was having a second volume. I tend not to pre order that far in advance, but I said, Screw it! This gal will have her day…. ah book! And in July 2026 Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees: Rite of Spring by Patrick Horvath, Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, and a few others, came out. Okay, yes it is good, but I had built up volume one so much and had such […]
About the Murder of Geraldine Foster by Anthony Abbot
This was a really great Golden Age mystery novel. I have never heard of Abbot before, and of course found out he was the author of The Greatest Story Ever Told after I bought this book and started to read it. And honestly, I knew that it was a movie (The Greatest Story Ever Told) but never realized it started off as a book. Back to About the Murder of Geraldine Foster, I really loved reading about a New York version of Sherlock Holmes (Thatcher […]
Harley Quinn: The Animated Series Volume 1: The Eat. Bang! Kill. Tour (#1-6) by Tee Franklin, Max Sarin and various
These gals ain’t going to have a Harlequin Romance written about them. ‘Cause the clown princess Harley Quinn and that green-thumbed (who knows how to use it) Poison Ivy are anything but a cozy romance love affair. We start off the collected comics of the Dynamic Duo of Mayhem, Harley Quinn: The Animated Series Volume 1: The Eat. Bang! Kill. Tour (#1-6) by Tee Franklin, Max Sarin (Illustrator) and others, with a car chase out of Gotham. It is a “between the series” moment where Ivy […]
Witch's Inheritance by Paige Hender
When I first saw the cover of Witch’s Inheritance by Paige Hender I figured it was a Baba Yaga story (chicken-footed house) and the witches were going to be “the bad guys” or at least one “bad guy” witch and the rest “good witches.” That’s partly true. There is a chicken house, good witches and some bad magical characters, but not as you’d think. The main character of the story has inherited her estranged mother’s family home from her unknown grandmother. She meets her equally […]
