Molka by Monika Kim

Molka by Monika Kim

April 12, 2026 by Classic Leave a Comment

Please note that I received this book via NetGalley. This did not affect my rating or review. Trigger warning: The author gives a very good trigger warning at the start of Molka and it includes voyeurism, misogyny, violence, murder, body horror, stalking, sexual harassment, sexual assault, and references to suicide. Wow. This was ridiculously good and very upsetting throughout. You get frustrated with the fact this is based on true cases that have happened in South Korea, and Kim references “The Burning Sun” scandal that […]

Mad Mabel by Sally Hepworth

Mad Mabel by Sally Hepworth

April 12, 2026 by Classic Leave a Comment

Please note that I received this book via NetGalley. This did not affect my rating or review. Honestly this was really well done, but the biggest issue I had was how slow parts were before things moved faster and we had all of the threads that were confusing at first tied up. I also think the ending with a character and someone we were introduced to via Elsie, otherwise known as Mad Mabel was just a bit much for me. But I did love the […]

These Familiar Walls by C.J. Dotson

These Familiar Walls by C.J. Dotson

April 6, 2026 by Classic Leave a Comment

Please note that I received this book via NetGalley. This did not affect my rating or review. Trigger Warning: Animal cruelty I had to give this three stars because honestly there’s a lot of terrible people in this one which can sometimes work for you as a reader, and this time it absolutely did not. And most importantly, there’s too many twists in this one that just got kind of tossed at you that really drove me up the wall. I felt like I was […]

The Lamb by Lucy Rose

The Lamb by Lucy Rose

April 4, 2026 by Classic Leave a Comment

Trigger warning: Very gory and some people may get a bit sick at parts. I did not read this while eating, but even after finishing, my stomach is a bit ugh. I am not spoiling anything going into this cause the synopsis lets you know right away you are reading about a mother and daughter who are cannibals. So that’s what is going on from the bat. I actually really enjoyed this, gore and all, but it is not something that I would read again, […]

Fancy Meeting You Here by Julie Tieu

Fancy Meeting You Here by Julie Tieu

April 3, 2026 by Classic Leave a Comment

Not going to write a super long review here. This was a very good romance. I honestly gave it 5 stars since it made me smile and we didn’t really have to deal with the main character (Elise) being ridiculous and stirring up a fake fight in the third act. I liked Elise and I liked her romance with Ben. I also loved that for once, we get a romance novel that also focuses on the female friendship of the main character. The core plot […]

The Bewitching by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

The Bewitching by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

April 3, 2026 by Classic Leave a Comment

This is hands down my favorite book of Moreno-Garcia since Mexican Gothic. I don’t know about anyone else, but I found some of her other works not hitting it for me. This one had it all, memorable characters, a very strong plot, and a great ending. The Bewitching follows in essence three distinct timelines that all come together in the end. Timeline one follows Minerva, an international graduate student from Mexico that is currently enrolled in Stoneridge College in Massachusetts in 1998. Minerva is trying to […]
