Exploring love

Love, Retold by Tikva Wolf

January 19, 2026 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

With celebrities coming out as non-mongomous and personal situations with friends and acquaintances, I decided to learn more about polyamory. Questions to poly and/or open relationshiped people, some online reading and more took me to Tikva Wolf. Their work, Ask Me about Polyamory: The Best of Kimchi Cuddles, I learned a few more things in a safe environment. Their non-technical, non-textbook format allowed me to stop and think, allowing me to understand things on an easier level than in academic forms. This led me to […]

You, Again by Kate Goldbeck

Daddy Issues by Kate Goldbeck

January 18, 2026 by Emmalita 5 Comments

While waiting for the second installment of Kate Elliott’s Spiritwalker series to become available, I decided to listen to a different Kate – contemporary romance author Kate Goldbeck. First I sped through Daddy Issues, which involves zero daddy play, and I thought it was good, so I downloaded You, Again, which was amazing. I love “unlikable” women – messy, bitchy, angry, depressed, immature, flailing – all of it. Ari (You, Again) and Sam (Daddy Issues) are the messiest and I love them so much. You, […]

less compelling second adventure with our sister hellraisers

The Ladies Road Guide to Utter Ruin by Alison Goodman

January 18, 2026 by wicherwill Leave a Comment

I’ll give this three stars even though there were multiple instances along the way when I was getting grumpy and wanted to give it two–namely because I did sit down and keep reading it, because I wanted to know what was going to happen to our band of motley characters. The biggest issue I had with this book was repeated quite consistently. Namely, that there were these highly complicated build ups to conflicts and/or quests, all of which were summarily dispatched so easily that you […]

Butterfly Games

Review: Butterfly Games

Butterfly Games by Kelly Scarborough

January 18, 2026 by Chris Leave a Comment

Disclaimer: I received a copy via  Librarything giveaway. A blurb for this refers to The Other Boleyn Girl.  I disagree with Gregory’s view of Anne Boleyn in the novel, but I also found it a compelling read.  It’s a guilty pleasure book. Butterfly Games is not that. The only thing that stands out is that Scarborough found the real-life Jacquette Gyldenstople interesting.  But that does not translate to the book in any meaningful way. The reader is introduced to Jacquette after her parents’ divorce, […]

Counterpoint (Twisted Wishes #2) by Anna Zabo

January 17, 2026 by carmelpie Leave a Comment

An alternative title to this was “Like Hannah Montana, but make it adult, queer, and with a healthy dose of BDSM.” Domino Grinder is a rockstar. With spiked hair, makeup, leather pants, copious tattoos, and a black-lipsticked sneer, he is the guitar god of the rock band Twisted Wishes. As soon as the show is over, Domino removes his makeup, peels off his skintight outfit, and morphs into his true self: nerdy, book-loving, bowtie-and-glasses-wearing twink, Dominic Bradley. Twisted Wishes has gone from radio-favorite-up-and-coming band to […]

Anonymous Alpha (Bangers and Mash Book 8) by MM Farmer

January 17, 2026 by carmelpie Leave a Comment

This is the fourth Bangers & Mash book I’ve read by MM Farmer. These are light, silly, sexy, and fun. If you’re looking for something deep and meaningful, this is not it. And that’s great! It’s lighthearted and a fun read to tune out and enjoy some downtime. Evan Mercer is a mega popstar. He’s been a teen idol his entire career, even as he’s transitioned to his twenties. At twenty-five, he’s finally able to end his recording contract and write songs that are more […]

on A family can be two sisters, one of those sister’s descendants, two other sisters, a magic whale, a sentient island, an omnipotent museum, and academic papers
Made a mistake - there's no 'the' in the title. And the book had me at the cover too.
