Nature Adventures with Bompa V02: Bompa's Intertidal Adventure by David Suzuki, Sarika Cullis-Suzuki, Tanya Lloyd Kyi, and Qin Leng

July 24, 2026 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I went to copy and paste my (if I do say so myself) fantastic review of Nature Adventures with Bompa V02: Bompa’s Intertidal Adventure by David Suzuki, Sarika Cullis-Suzuki, Tanya Lloyd Kyi, and illustrator Qin Leng (read via an online reader copy, due in September 2026). And because my hands were not working/I  was not completely ready to do so, I deleted my entire review.  My last review for Bingo and POOF! Away it went!  Now, the good thing is I got to read it […]

Is It Time, Yet? by Lynn Levine and Dirk Steinhoefel

July 10, 2026 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

The worst part of a vacation for me is trying to sit long enough to finish a book before I pick up another as now I have time to sit and read. Of course, once your sister hears “The Aunt is Free” she says, “Oh you loooove your oldest nephew so you want to spend time with him….”  Sure, why not? What else was I going to do? Read and sleep? Who needs that?   All kidding aside, I love my nephew. But he’s not really […]

This is really neat to learn about!

Pufflings Fly Free!: A Rescue Tale from Iceland by Colleen Paeff and by Linda Ólafsdóttir

May 21, 2026 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

Recently (via email) I met someone who actually goes out and helps wood frogs and salamanders at night cross the road. I had heard about this, but never knew someone who actually did it. This person recommended their book Is It Time, Yet? (by Lynn Levine and Dirk Steinhoefel). I will be finding a copy of it soon. But in the meantime, I found Pufflings Fly Free!: A Rescue Tale from Iceland by Colleen Paeff and illustrated by  Linda Ólafsdóttir. This book is basically the […]

The Greenies V01 by Emma Mills and Sarah Nicole Kennedy

May 21, 2026 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

The Greenies V01 by Emma Mills and illustrator Sarah Nicole Kennedy Recently I have been locating many of my older links and then finding the books included in them are available, but I still have access to the links, but that is good, as I learn it is not “wow best book ever” just “that was good” so a physical copy is not wanted to keep. But that is also good as if you like the review you can run out and grab your own […]

I’ve honestly lost track how many times I have read one and hope I can repeat it with the other title

The Tree in Me by Corinna Luyken

Hello, Ocean! by Corinna Luyken

May 15, 2026 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

Honestly, I have lost track of how many times I have read The Tree in Me by Corinna Luyken. I know I have read it at least once via an online reader and one reading of the finished book, but I am sure it has been more. In fact, it could be up to four or five times. And this is because I forget I read it, but as soon as I do I remember, I remember it was a pleasure to read each time. […]

Forest Euphoria: Mostly memoir but with cool (and some bummer) queer nature facts

Forest Euphoria: The Abounding Queerness of Nature by Patricia Ononiwu Kaishian

April 7, 2026 by beereadsbooks Leave a Comment

I have been in the throes of moving and unpacking for the last 6 weeks (give or take), so reading has been slow and distracted. Even getting through this 6 hour audiobook took 2 weeks, and I was certainly distracted through most of it. So definitely take this review with a grain of salt. The book seems to be broken down in the sections that match a set of anecdotes from the author’s life with thematically similar creatures in nature that highlight queerness, diversity in […]
