Sometimes your mom does know best

The Bride Test by Helen Hoang

December 23, 2019 by teresaelectro Leave a Comment

The Bride Test is the second romance from Helen Hoang. I had to figure out what all the buzz was about for myself and was not disappointed. I absolutely love the illustrated cover. Definitely don’t want this trend to go away. I haven’t gotten around to her previous book, The Kiss Quotient, but thankfully, this series can be read as stand-alone books. The characters simply inhabit the same universe. After a tragic loss, Khai Diep believes he can’t feel emotion because his grief didn’t follow […]

Extremely solid second book; I liked it better than the first. #CBRBingo – Own Voices

The Bride Test (The Kiss Quotient, #2) by Helen Hoang

September 10, 2019 by narfna Leave a Comment

I liked this quite a bit, maybe even more than the first one. It still featured miscommunication as one of the central conflicts, but with one of the characters being autistic, and the other being from another country, I feel like here it’s actually justified, and it didn’t really bother me. (It still bothered me a little in The Kiss Quotient, even though Stella was on the spectrum as well. Also, that book featured a couple of other tropes that didn’t sit well with me, […]

No connection between these, I’m just behind

The Bride Test by Helen Hoang

Gossip Girl by Cecily von Ziegesar

The Lady's Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzie Lee

Holy moses I got so behind, and I still have one more I need to review but with the amount I’ve been talking about it offline, it definitely deserves its own review from me. So let’s get started. The Bride Test, by Helen Hoang I read and reviewed the first book in this series, The Kiss Quotient, and wasn’t so prude I wouldn’t read the second, so here we are. I like that the two books are connected without this one feeling like a sequel (a […]

Kissing Books!

Evidence of the Affair by Taylor Jenkins Reid

99 Percent Mine by Sally Thorne

The Bride Test (The Kiss Quotient, #2) by Helen Hoang

Ayesha at Last by Uzma Jalaluddin

The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren

Kissing books with varying degrees of actual kissing (Ayesha At Last might be the most chaste book I’ve read all year, but it’s still very romantic). Ordered vaguely from least favorite to most. (3 stars) Evidence of the Affair by Taylor Jenkins Reid I’m always on the lookout for new Taylor Jenkins Reid, and after I finished Daisy Jones I had a definite hankering. Luckily, Reid published a story I’d never come across before, and it was available free through Amazon. Unfortunately, it was a short […]

Sugary sweet summer read

The Bride Test by Helen Hoang

July 29, 2019 by Jen K Leave a Comment

Bingo Square: Listicle When I saw the Listicle category, I figured the easiest way to find a list with something I wanted to read would be to google “Best Books of 2019” or “Summer Reads for 2019,” and Cosmopolitan came through for me.  It had a few novels I had already read and enjoyed, a few that were already on my to read list, and has given me a few more novels to keep an eye out for.  The Bride Test fell into the second […]

Here Comes the Bride?

The Bride Test by Helen Hoang

July 28, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

Wow. So to keep this short since I am tired and hungry going to say that everything worked for me except I thought that someone should have explained Khai’s autism to Esme a lot better than they did. I also thought the harebrained scheme his brother cooked up was ridiculous and was honestly one of the things that took me right out of the book. I did think that Hoang still does a great job with love scenes and sexual tension. I loved our quick […]
