“Just the act of falling in love was to agree to a broken heart.”

Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid

December 26, 2025 by Sophia Leave a Comment

I’ve already read a couple of books by Taylor Jenkins Reid and generally liked them, but I think Atmosphere (2025) is my favorite (so far). I first saw Atmosphere on NPR’s Favorite books, and then my book club started talking about it too, which is why I picked it up. Atmosphere takes place in the early 1980’s at the NASA space shuttle program. We follow the women who are in NASA’s second class of astronauts to ever allow women. Joan Goodwin is an Astronomer unhappily teaching introductory classes to spoiled […]

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Isn’t that the very definition of power? Watching people kill themselves over something that means nothing to you? ― Taylor Jenkins Reid, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo …do yourself a favor and learn to grab life by the balls, dear. Don’t be so tied up in trying to do the right thing when the smart thing is so painfully clear. ― Taylor Jenkins Reid, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo CBR17 Bingo: Favorite Taylor Jenkins Reid is one of my favorite authors. This book […]

The book, "Malibu Rising" by Taylor Jenkins Reid is lying on a black and white cat that is curled up on a blanket.

I feel the title should have been Malibu *Burning*

Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Bingo: Play – Surfing is an important part of this family. My introduction to Taylor Jenkins Read was Daisy Jones and the Six.  I then went on to Carrie Soto is Back and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.  All listened to in audiobook format, which were amazing.  Highly recommend them.  It was a happy day when I found Malibu Rising in a free little library.  I needed a book to take to the beach a week ago and this seemed like the perfect candidate. It was nice […]

Ground Control to Major Tom

Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid

July 8, 2025 by Jen K Leave a Comment

Bingo Square: Work (because astronauts and NASA) I really enjoy Taylor Jenkins Reid and her novels – as books, Malibu Rising and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo are my favorite of hers but the audio version of Daisy Jones and the Six elevates that novel beyond what is on the page (I do consider audiobooks reading and they count as read book but sometimes I want to distinguish how I read succinctly because for things like Daisy Jones, it actually is kind of a […]

Failure to Launch

Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid

June 16, 2025 by jeverett15 3 Comments

Here’s what you need to know about Atmosphere: A Love Story, the latest novel from book club powerhouse Taylor Jenkins Reid: -the main character is Joan Goodwin. She is Good, and not just in the sense that she always thinks, feels, and does the right thing. She is also a talented pianist, artist, and cook. She is also the Bestest Aunt Ever. And, oh yeah, an astronaut. One of the first female astronauts, in fact. I’m going to give Jenkins Reid the benefit of the […]
