A rush through the author’s experience

Home Body by Rupi Kaur

December 12, 2020 by Mobius_Walker Leave a Comment

Let me start by stating that my exposure to poetry is very limited. I have, to my knowledge, read only one or two full collections of poems, so take this entire review with a grain of salt. Home Body by Rupi Kaur is broken down into four parts: mind, heart, rest, and awake. In mind Kaur writes of her depression, anxiety, and her struggles with worth and acceptance. In heart, Kaur write of love: its loss, its elusion, and its impact. In rest, Kaur write of just that. […]

Take a look, it’s in a book (or five)

My America by Karen Katz

Sheep Dog and Sheep Sheep: Baaad Hair Day by Eric Barclay

One More Hug by Megan Alexander

Roly Poly by Mem Fox

The Invisible Boy by Trudy Ludwig

What do you do when you can’t write a review to fit your needed word count? You combine several together to let people know that there are some grand books out there, but trying to write over 200 words just is not going to happen with books only a 100 words themselves (if that). My America by Karen Katz: This is a nice book. It is cozy. It is sweet. It is comfortable. It talks about people from the POV of children. All (with one […]

Bunnatine, Immy, Demon Lover, and Ghost Boyfriend walk into a bar…

Get In Trouble by Kelly Link

June 9, 2020 by andtheIToldYouSos 2 Comments

Well, sometimes it’s a bar filled with men raised by wolves. Sometimes it’s a space ship. A warehouse full of mysterious sleeping people. A magical house full of “summer people”. A haunted house on a space ship. A lake where a few dozen nudists disappeared in the seventies. The penthouse party at a hotel full of dentists and super heroes. The crumbling remains of a Wizard of Oz theme park. A pocket universe that opened above Florida. Kelly Link writes things that are fantastic and […]

Let Me Live in this Universe!

Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

June 4, 2020 by randirock Leave a Comment

I love romance novels, and Red, White & Royal Blue offered me the awesome opportunity to read my  first gay romance. I’m so happy to have made this particular book my initiation. It was fun, well-written, and moving. The love scenes were steamy, and the scenario of a female President of the United States was dreamy. Overall, it was a universe I would love to live in, especially given what we’re currently dealing with in 2020. Alex is the 21-year-old son of the aforementioned POTUS […]

A Thriller That Does Not Quit

A Good Marriage by Kimberly McCreight

May 16, 2020 by randirock Leave a Comment

Kimberly McCreight is the author of one of my favorite books, Reconstructing Amelia, so when I saw that she had released a new novel, I had to get my hands on it right away. Thankfully, it was a May selection for the Book of the Month Club, of which I am a proud member. I quickly filled my box, hit ship, and waited anxiously by my mailbox. It finally came yesterday. I sat down to read it, and within the first 50 pages, I knew how […]
