Quick Questions with a Cannonballer: andtheIToldYouSos

March 12, 2020 by Bothari43 6 Comments

How long have you been volunteering with CBR, and what is your area of expertise? I just volunteered at the beginning of this year. My areas of expertise are mostly physical, if I am going to say that I’m an expert at all at anything, haha. I worked in theater for a long time – doing both props and set design- but it was a terribly stressful environment. For the last few years I have been teaching other adults behavioral and trauma informed interventions to […]

Announcing 2020 #CannonBookClub Topics and Dates!

February 6, 2020 by faintingviolet 1 Comment

For CBR12 we’re planning three book clubs that we hope will inspire you to pick up a new to you book or reread something and consider it again. On March 20th and 21st we’ll celebrate five years of #CannonBookClub and revisit our first book – Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel. We have lots of new faces, as well as plenty of us who have been around since Cannonball Read 7 so it seemed the perfect time to revisit one of my favorite books […]

2019 CBR11 stats update!

January 27, 2020 by ingres77 6 Comments

So, I sat down to compile the 2019 stats the other day anticipating a week and a half of drudgery. Drudgery I would get some degree of nerd pleasure out of, but still drudgery. Only to discover that – none of my XML formula’s (that I use to harvest data from this website, which I then turn into the CBR database) worked. So I pulled up the home page, and find that everything looks different. Uh oh. After verifying my code strings, and making a […]

Quick Questions with a Cannonballer: Beth Ellen

January 8, 2020 by Bothari43 6 Comments

How long have you been helping out with the book club? What made you decide to become a CBR volunteer? I started helping out with CBR in 2017? 2018? Ummm, yeah. My years have blurred tremendously. I decided to help out when MsWas asked because I love the community CBR has built. For the past year plus due to personal stuff I have taken a backseat, but it’s wonderful to know everyone is still there. One of my goals for 2020 is to get back […]

CBR12 Has Begun!

January 1, 2020 by MsWas 4 Comments

CBR12 has officially begun, and you may begin posting your reviews for 2020. I hope you enjoy the new website design, which includes a couple of fun upgrades – my favorite is the author field now automatically creates a tag for the author. That’s one fewer step for you when you post reviews – don’t worry about adding the author in the tags! You can find more detailed information about the website in the Cannonball Read FAQ. If you see any problems or issues with the new site, please let […]
