CBR15 Bingo – Sex: What would a bonkbuster be without sex? And here it drives much of the action and drama of the book as well. Jake Lovell and Rupert Campbell-Black were born to very different circumstances which have made them very different men, but they both have the same goal – to rise to the top of the spectacular, high-octane world of… show jumping. As I was embarking on an international trip with limited internet access, I thought it would be prudent to stock up […]

Mission Yozakura Family vol. 5 by Hitsuji Gondaira

Bingo 11: Relation-ship The manga Mission: Yozakura Family is pretty trope-y but still mostly entertaining. In volume 5 a there are a handful or inter-personal relationships that make some progress as well as an actual ship (ok, small fishing vessel and also a submarine makes a brief appearance; that counts). The main mystery of what really happened to Taiyo’s family makes a bit of progress when it turns out there’s a connection that he didn’t know about to his ‘wife’s’ (they’re about 16, so that […]

She’s a Queen, He’s Just an Asshole

Second Chance with His Viking Wife by Sarah Rodi

CBR15 Bingo – Europe: This book is set in Saxon England, and additionally includes Norse characters who immigrated there from Greenland. Teon hasn’t seen his wife Revna in years, when they were forced to wed to prevent a war. He hates Vikings, her father especially, and yet he can’t help but be drawn to her. I picked up this book because I’m trying to read more historical romance from different settings, and I don’t recall having read a Viking romance before, especially one it is the […]

The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez

Read as part of CBR15Bingo: relation”ship.” This is a romance novel about two people in a relationship who the reader is supposed to “ship,” I s’pose. Never been a fan of the term, myself.  I’m going to give a brief review and say that this book is fine and entertaining if you like romance; moving in spots, cloying in others. And I’m going to spend the rest of the time spoiling the book talking about its take on infertility. So don’t read on if you […]

CBR15 Bingo: In the Wild

Magic Claims by Ilona Andrews

4.5 stars CBR15 Bingo: In the Wild (partly set in a big, spooky wood AND featuring shifters) This short novel, which originally was planned as a novella (but the authors just couldn’t fit all of the story into such a short format, for which their fans are grateful) is the second of the Wilmington Years stories, which could clearly also be called Kate and Curran spectacularly fail at a quiet and uneventful retirement. In the previous story, Magic Tides, Kate has to rescue a bunch […]
