I read a lot of picture books so I have a lot of reviews. This is one of them.

All About Cats Fantastically Funny Rhymes by Frantz Wittkamp

by Leave a Comment

If you like offbeat rhyming books, All About Cats Fantastically Funny Rhymes might be for you. The crew of Frantz Wittkamp, Axel Scheffler and David Henry Wilson made this due in mid-March 2024 picture book.  I am not sure how the final result will be as I found it as an online reader copy, but it is supposed to be paper and not a traditional first published as hardcover edition. I am not sure how much I liked all the approximately fifteen poems about cats […]

A book from its time

The Cat at Night by Dahlov Ipcar

I would like to think since I have read so much, and that I lived with my grandmother and her “retro, but it was the present at the time it first was in style but not so much in my childhood” style, that I can “pinpoint” an era when looking at a picture book. And I was not too far off from the era of The Cat at Night. First written in 1969 the illustrations were screaming “1930s to 1940’s” farm-chic (only the original deal) […]

Sometimes, a Tiger by Z. B. Asterplume

Do you like cats? As the saying goes, you should never trust someone who does not like cats. Or is that dogs? No, I’m sure it is cats…. Regardless which (or both) it is, if you like cats, and if you like reading, and if you like picture books these three below titles are books you should investigate reading. Each one is a bit different, but they could work for most people and most ages. First, we have Lost Cat! Jacqueline K. Rayner made a […]

Are you my reader?

Catwad Volume 1: It’s Me by Jim Benton

My Little Thief  by Augusten Burroughs

A Pizza My Heart by Stephani Stilwell

The Making of Butterflies by Zora Neale Hurston

Time for the round-up of books I want to review but cannot do 250 words each for. They range from picture books to graphic novels. And we see old favoirte authors, new ones, and adult auhotrs coming to dark side (afterall, we are kids and have cookies). Sometimes I like Jim Benton, sometimes I do not. And this was a do not. Catwad Volume 1: It’s Me is a collection of (to some, though the line about running hate for Catwad was amusing) humorous stories […]

I wish the cat in the below image was mine, but it’s not, so I’ll just keep on reading cat books like Flubby

Flubby Does Not Like the Snow by J. E. Morris

Flubby Will Not Play with That by J. E. Morris

Flubby Will Not Go to Sleep by J. E. Morris

Flubby Does Not Like Valentines’ Day by J. E. Morris

I am starting with the title Flubby Does Not Like Valentines’ Day as my first title as it was the first book of the series I read. However, though I am seeing it came out in December, I cannot say for sure as I read these J. E. Morris titles online. I cannot find it located any place for purchase. Therefore, I will just say that it is about Valentine’s Day and how Flubby the Cat is not a fan. Until he is. And that […]

A talking cat + groomer mystery duo

Mimi Lee Gets a Clue by Jennifer J. Chow

Mimi Lee Gets a Clue by Jennifer J. Chow is the first book in her Sassy Cat Mystery series. As a big fan of cozy mysteries and cute animals, the adorable illustrated cover sold me instantly. Mimi opens a grooming shop called Hollywoof. She hopes to cater to the dog clientele of Los Angeles. Even though it’s clear that Mimi prefers dogs, her sister gives her a fluffy white cat. He is aptly named Marshmallow. Quite soon, Mimi starts hearing Marshmallow talk. She thinks she […]
