Bombshells by Sarina Bowen

August 22, 2026 by Sophia Leave a Comment

I went through a phase some years ago where I read a lot of books by Sarina Bowen because I found them fun and entertaining. Recently, I was looking for good road trip books, and I looked her up again. I realized that I had missed a couple, and decided now was the time to do some catch up. I’m not sure if I intentionally skipped over Bombshells (2021) or I somehow missed it, but I was happy to find another Bowen book that I had not […]

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

August 22, 2026 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

This was another book that my new spin friends suggested to me. It was MUCH better than the Flock book, but not as good as they thought it was or I wanted it to be. Again, cute premise, but mother of god this main character was oblivious. I have a really hard time with stories that require the main characters to be generally dumb about normal interactions, and keep them from having simple conversations that would clear up most of the conflict. Olive Smith is […]

A Book to Read with One Eye Shut

Dynasty of Desire by Elizabeth Zachary

August 21, 2026 by Pooja Leave a Comment

CBR18 Bingo: Wealth – The hope of massive wealth leads many people, including the main characters, to invest their money in the construction of the Panama Canal, and much of the action is driven by those trying to recoup that investment. Sisters Darcie and Petra are only two years apart in age, but they go down vastly different paths after a horrible crime turns their lives upside-down. Despite their differences, though, they will both end up deeply involved in the construction of the Panama Canal. […]

Fury in Death by J.D. Robb

Fury in Death by J.D. Robb

August 20, 2026 by Classic Leave a Comment

Please note that I received this book via NetGalley. This did not impact my rating or review.  Wow. This was perfect from beginning to end. It’s been a while since we had Eve looking for a suspect that she wanted to save in the end. The story breaks your heart from beginning to end. And I found myself rooting for the “bad” guy in this one. I do have to say though, I hope this is the last we have to hear about Peabody and […]

I need to stop reading paranormal romances

Bound by Ali Hazelwood

August 20, 2026 by Sophia Leave a Comment

I’m a sucker for all Ali Hazelwood books, so when I saw that she had a new novel out, I picked up the Audiobook without even thinking. Bound (2025) is apparently only available on Audiobook until October of this year, when it will be released in print with its partner book, Unbound. I’m assuming that Unbound is a continuation of Bound, but I’m not really sure. Veronica “Vero” is a grad student who grew up with her con artist parents. She mostly did not follow in her parents’ footsteps, but […]

Pride & Provocateur: A Modern Pride and Prejudice Variation in Dildo, Newfoundland by Melissa Yi

August 19, 2026 by wicherwill Leave a Comment

CBR Bingo: Friends, obviously, as the Bennet family here are a found family Hi to fellow Cannonballer Melissa Yi! I’m a strident P&P fangirl, and have rather warm feelings to all of the various adaptations that I’ve encountered along the way. I also have strong opinions about what makes for a good adaptation, because I think people misunderstand the key elements of a P&P vs a story with P&P beats. One thing I think Yi gets absolutely right is that the Bennet sisters don’t actually […]
