Think Someone Could Record the Songs from this Novel?

Daisy Jones & the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

July 29, 2019 by Jen K Leave a Comment

Bingo Square: Pajiba The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was one of my favorite reads this year (review forthcoming, eventually, hopefully), so I was excited to realize Reid had a new novel out.  When I started actually going through the Bingo board and looking through the Pajiba archive, I was even more excited to realize that I could read it for that square – I was actually trying to find Dustin’s article on Baby Teeth because I thought I might finally use this as the […]

Waiting for the companion album

Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

CBR11 Bingo Pajiba square. I had read glowing write-ups of this book seemingly everywhere. An oral history of a fictional band did not seem at all interesting to me- I tend to ignore oral histories even of bands/movies/shows I have loved- but the rave reviews had my interest piqued. I’m so glad I got over myself.   As I said, the book is written as an oral history provided by the members of the band, “the Six” as well as singer Daisy Jones, their management, […]

CBR11Bingo: Pajiba

Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Dustin Rowles mentioned this book on Pajiba (Pajiba!), and that he loved it so much that he immediately sought out Taylor Jenkins Reid’s The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I came to it from the opposite direction — I have loved everything else I’ve ever read by Taylor Jenkins Reid and jumped on the waiting list for this one pretty much the moment I heard about it. I was not disappointed. I am a huge fan of oral histories complied into a narrative. I used […]

The Chosen ones never know that they are chosen.

Daisy Jones and The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Another of Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine Book Club picks strikes again. This is definitely a page turner and a great summer read. Might I also recommend having some good 60’s rock ‘n roll playing in the background as well? Sit under the umbrella or with an umbrella in your cocktail and enjoy. The basic plot here is pretty straight forward. A band from Pittsburgh called The Six and a singer songwriter named Daisy Jones come together to record a duet and the rest is history. […]

Impossible Woman

Daisy Jones and The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

June 15, 2019 by Carriejay Leave a Comment

In July 1979, Daisy Jones and The Six, a rock n roll band, were at the height of their success. Yet after a concert in the middle of the tour the band broke up, cancelling the rest of their dates. This book attempts to discover why that happened, taking us back to the days before the band had made it, when Daisy Jones and the band known as The Six were separate entities. Told more like an extended article or oral history, the book allows […]

Daisy Jones & The Six – Best. Audiobook Everrrrr.

Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

June 8, 2019 by cheerbrarian Leave a Comment

A number of folks at my work suggested this book, and specifically said it was great on audio and since my commute is grossss (hour or hour 15 one way) I’m always on the look for not just any audiobook, but one that makes my time on the road worth it. In addition, it’s a Reese Witherspoon book club pick and I’ve been delighted by her choices that I’ve read so far: see also The Library Book, Eleanor Oliphant is perfectly fine. This was a […]
