Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey

January 10, 2026 by genericwhitegirl Leave a Comment

I’m not a memoir reader. But this was gifted to me during a happy hour, when my defenses were down and I was probably more excited than normal to receive a gift. All jokes aside, I will admit that one of my favorite books, The Glass Castle, is a memoir, so when Greenlights arrived in my audible account, I decided to waive judgment. But I felt like, of all the memoirs out there, is McConaughey’s really going to be the one to change my life (as […]

Just Because by Matthew McConaughey

May 3, 2023 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

The book Just Because is a very Matthew McConaughey type book. His more laid back, modern take on things come out on the pages. He has several “just because” statements. Just because I told a lie, does not make me a liar. Or just because I have the gold (the biggest package) does not mean I won. I found Greenlights (2020) by Matthew McConaughey available on audiobook from my library. I had a pretty big crush on McConaughey when I was younger, but I never knew much about his life. I liked that McConaughey was reading the book himself, and I figured it would be interesting; so I gave it a shot. The best thing about this book is McConaughey’s reading. His unmistakable drawl brings his story to life, and he’s great with the accents when he’s speaking for other people. McConaughey discusses his […]

Alright, alright, alright…

Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey

*taps microphone* Is this thing on? Last January I decided not to sign up for CBR12 because I was anticipating the arrival of my son and figured I wouldn’t have a lot of time to devote to reading and reviewing. Between maternity leave and a pandemic related furlough I spent 4 months trying to stay sane when the only person I saw all day, every day didn’t speak English and required me to wipe his butt 10 times a day. I don’t think I read […]
