Misfit Mansion by Kay Davault
I was cleaning out my old online reader links (once again…. this is going to take longer than I thought) and found Misfit Mansion by Kay Davault. I had thought I had lost this link, but I was excited to see that I had not. This book has been something I have wanted to read since I first saved the link, but never had the opportunity to read it. And the wait was mostly worth it. This is a terribly cute story about family and […]
Birtle and the Purple Turtles (Volume One) by Tara J. Hannon
Birtle and the (Very) Unwelcome Garry (Volume 2) by Tara J. Hannon
I think Birtle and the Purple Turtles (Volume One) is an odd and nice story about “being different” but that’s okay. Not specifically GLBT but fits those and other “I am different” needs. Sweet, modern, good for the early reader needing help, been reading solo for a bit or a listener. The story is familiar, we have a turtle who wants to play, but the town of Turtleville is not into playing turtle tag. They have other things they want. But one day a thing falls […]
Heartstopper volume 5 by Alice Oseman
Nick and Charlie are closer than ever, but despite what their friends think, they still haven’t done THAT. Lately, it’s probably all either can think about, but it’s a big step and neither wants to pressure the other. Nick is also a year older than Charlie, and is having to consider which Universities he’s going to apply to next year. His first inclination is living at home and going to his local Uni, so he’ll be close to Charlie, but he goes on a road […]
Cassiel's Servant by Jacqueline Carey
Codename Charming by Lucy Parker
With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo
Sleep No More by Seanan McGuire
Cassiel’s Servant – Jacqueline Carey Rating: 3.5 stars Kushiel’s Dart is one of my favourite fantasy books, and books in general, of all time. It stands up, I re-read it this summer in preparation for the release of this. Has Jacqueline Carey done exactly the same thing as Stephenie Meyer and E.L James did, and retold her already existing novel from the POV of another central character? Yes, she has. Was I pretty sure that this was going to be a lot more worthwhile and […]
Fangirl, the Manga: Volume 3 by Rainbow Rowell and Gabi Nam
Deal with the Devil by Kit Rocha
How the Wallflower Was Won by Eva Leigh
Knockout by Sarah Maclean
Fangirl, the Manga: Volume 3 – Rainbow Rowell and Gabi Nam Rating: 4 stars This August saw the release of the third installment of Rainbow Rowell’s manga version of Fangirl, my absolute favourite of her books (did I just buy a fancy tenth-anniversary edition, even though I own it in three other formats, NOT counting the mangas? You betcha). Cath is still struggling at college. Her writing partner Nick steals the story they’ve been working on together and makes her seem unreasonable for being upset […]
What Music!: The Fifty-year Friendship between Beethoven and Nannette Streicher, Who Built His Pianos by Laurie Lawlor
Though available, read What Music!: The Fifty-year Friendship between Beethoven and Nannette Streicher, Who Built His Pianos via an online reader copy. Laurie Lawlor created a story that is more on the friendship and Beethoven’s life than the actual pianos Streicher built. It is an interesting look into their lives, through an outlet not usually used. While you might learn a few new things about Streicher, overall, there might not be a lot of new for Beethoven. This picture book is not to be considered […]
