Slime Shop by Karina Garcia
CBR15Passport country (Illustrator from Germany) I must have lived a sheltered life. Or my mother was one of those people who knew she would have to clean up the mess if she gave me and my sister slime. Oh, I had some silly putty, but it just was not the same. Afterall, are they writing books on how to make silly putty? Or books about silly putty coming to life? Nope. But Karina Garcia and Kevin Panetta are writing Slime Shop (due August 2023) a […]
Hoops by Matt Tavares
CBR15Passport own The Matt Tavares graphic novel Hoops is the most fun I have had with a basketball story since Dragon Hoops by Gene Luen Yang. Based on real events, this is a great story for fans of graphic novels, basketball (girls/women’s, boys/men or either), or a great friend’s story. We follow the brand-new girls’ basketball team where basketball is king and the players royalty. That is, if they are the boys team. The newly formed girls’ team is expected to wash their own uniforms […]
Spreckle's Snack Surprise by Sandra Salsbury
CBR15Passport author What happens when you are looking for the best snack ever and all you can find are some messy slugs? Well, you do what Spreckle does in Spreckle’s Snack Surprise. You fly the coop. And maybe I should have led with this, but Spreckle lives on a farm with their fuzzy brothers and sisters and feathery mom in a chicken coop. And even though they do not look like each other, there is lots of love to go around and a warm nest to […]
Little Mole Gives Thanks by Glenys Nellist
CBR15Passport author When I first saw the title Little Mole Gives Thanks I thought, “Well isn’t it a bit early for a Thanksgiving book?” And then I realized, um… the book is being promoted on Edelweiss and they will promote a book early so you can read and enjoy and start promoting early. Duh! And then I realized that it is due mid-late August 2023, so in the book world, that is basically right around the corner. Then I realized it is not really a […]
Teen Titans: Robin by Kami Garcia
CBR15Passport own Between my planned vacation and my two days dealing with family health issues, I got a little reading done. I went for the lighter reading (with a few exceptions) but one of the lightest was Teen Titans: Robin (book four). Kami Garcia’s Teen Titan series has covered Raven, Beast Boy, Beast Boy and Raven (plus friends) and this time we meet the Robins. Or the Wayne’s. Well, the Wayne-Grayson combo. After learning about Raven and Beast Boy and their powers, and a bit […]
The Do-Over V01 by Rodrigo Vargas.
When I have had a rough few days, and I need to read but thoughts are not sticking, I find that younger/middle reader graphic novels are perfect. I get a fun story, but I do not have to get serious. And with The Do-Over V01 we get a cute story about friends, family, and confidence that has a nice message, but is not “too deep.” Adults might have to suspend belief a tad when it comes to this graphic novel by Rodrigo Vargas. After all, […]
