Add one kid and one panda and you got panda-monium

Cindy and Panda by Benson Shum

by Leave a Comment

I am trying to find all the Benson Shum books I can easily find. There looks like there are several titles that they only illustrated and one or two they have solo written that I will not find, but in the meantime, I have found several others. Such as Cindy and Panda. However, the story was not my favorite, but I adore the illustrations. Panda is so pandorable! I want to make a Panda Pie… I mean make a pie with Panda. Like Cindy does. […]

Nosy Crow publisher has come state side

Everything Possible by Fred Small

Frank and Bert V01 by Chris Naylor-Ballesteros

For some reason I have been getting emails from a company called Nosy Crow. Now, these books were mostly only available in the UK, so I am not sure why I had the emails. However, recently they have a US imprint, and I started to browse titles. The first two titles I found were Everything Possible and Frank and Bert. Now, neither book is in my Top 10 Favorites, but they are cute books that I know people will enjoy. First, Everything Possible is a […]

The One and Only Sparkella and the Big Lie (Sparkella, 3) by Channing Tatum

by Leave a Comment

The One and Only Sparkella and the Big Lie (Sparkella, 3) by Channing Tatum was my first, and probably last, Sparkella picture book I will read. The entire book is fluffy, and a celebrity pushed book. I have no opinion on the actor/author’s performances on screen, but their book left me flat, and bored. And Kim Barnes, I am sure you are a lovely person, but the illustrations are cliched and were not enjoyable for me. They were too bright, minimal in their details, and […]

Godboys and Goddessgirls go to school and do teen things

Goddess Girls Graphic V02 Persephone the Phony Graphic Novel by Joan Holub

by Leave a Comment

I feel similar about the Goddess Girls Graphic Novel series as I did to PAWS recently. There was nothing new to it and it is flat. However, the interesting part (or at least a fact about the graphic novels) is that the Goddess Girls graphic novels are based on the actual novels of several years ago. At least this makes me wonder how updated they are or are they “old school” mentality? Regardless of their connection to the novels, this book at least can be picked […]

Paws V01 Gabby Gets It Together by Nathan Fairbairn

by Leave a Comment

I gave the second book in the PAWS series a higher than I might have score for potential. But after reading book one, I think I need to bump that down. As book one, Paws V01 Gabby Gets It Together, was a real pooper. Book two was probably given a three (I do not remember, but I do remember it did not “grab me” but I figured that was because I hadn’t read book one). This time it is a one, or a 1.5 at […]

Chwast and I are not going to be book friends, but maybe you will

Life Lessons by Seymour Chwast

Find a Friend by Seymour Chwast

Where’s My Cat by Seymour Chwast

by Leave a Comment

I have concluded that Seymour Chwast and I are not going to be book friends. I have now read several of their books and none of them have been, to be blunt, fun. The right reader/listener will have a fine time, but something tells me many of their books are for adults and not for children. Yet, they are aimed at kids. The artwork is the focus for me, and the text a secondary. They are not messing with the text. The illustrations are colorful, […]
