I am trying to find all the Benson Shum books I can easily find. There looks like there are several titles that they only illustrated and one or two they have solo written that I will not find, but in the meantime, I have found several others.
Such as Cindy and Panda. However, the story was not my favorite, but I adore the illustrations. Panda is so pandorable! I want to make a Panda Pie… I mean make a pie with Panda. Like Cindy does. Only Cindy’s style is a bit freestyle and something a little happens that causes not only a very large mess, but some hurt feelings. Of course, Panda and Cindy make up, and find another way to make a pie together. One that represents them both: blueberries, which are sweet and a little tart, too.
And as I said, I really liked the illustrations. They are cuddly. Round, and if there is a stuffed toy set made of Cindy and Panda, I am so getting it, as they would be the perfect little collection for my already crowded desk of book related items. The art is colorful, minimal details, but are comfortable and bight, grabbing the younger reader/listeners attention. What you see is what you get from the cover. A little girl, a panda, and pie.
And who does not love pie? But even if you do not, you will most likely like City and Panda by Shum. (Currently out, I read via an online reader copy).
