Winnie-the-Pooh: The Graphic Novel by A.A. Milne, Kevan Chandler and Joe Sutphin

Winnie-the-Pooh: The Graphic Novel by A.A. Milne, Kevan Chandler (Adapter), Joe Sutphin (Adapter/Illustrator) It took a bit to read this because I was using an online reader, and a few pages were “split,” so I couldn’t get the “full picture” with images. I also “put down” the reader to start reading other books as it is not due until October 2026 and figured I had some time to finish at a later date. The original story and this book might vary a bit from each […]

Don’t let the cute little kid fool you. This is a bloody tale of vengeance.

Lone Wolf & Cub Deluxe Edition Volume 1 by Kazuo Koike and Goseki Kojima

by 1 Comment

Cbr18bingo Right – It’s manga, so you read it right to left I heard about Lone Wolf & Cub a few years ago but had been unable to find a copy of it until recently. Last year, Dark Horse published a deluxe edition of this manga classic, which was first published in Japan starting in 1970. Kazuo Koike’s original story has been translated by Dana Lewis. In addition to Goseki Kojima’s masterful and dynamic ink drawings, this deluxe edition includes a few of his color […]

Duckie and Snaps are back

Duckie & Snaps V02 We Cannot be Brave by Ame Dyckman and Tim Miller

Book two of the Duckie & Snaps series was due in early August 2026 but I read via an online reader copy well before that, but like many reviews, I didn’t post it until now.  And all I can say about We Cannot be Brave is that it is totally Duckie and Snaps. I guess I could say it is also pure Ame Dyckman. Which means both are really out there and both are goofy and sweet.  And I could add that the illustrator Tim […]

A lesser-known story by Goodnight Moon author

The Dark Wood of the Golden Birds by Margaret Wise Brown and Ofra Amit

In 1948, a year after she rewilded the landscape of literature with Goodnight Moon, Margaret Wise Brown watched the love of her life fade to black. Michael Strange, born Blanche Oelrichs, had cast an instant spell on Margaret–outspoken, sophisticated, and self-possessed . . . Both women were born in the wrong century, bent on bending it to their will; both were accidental radicals, just by living unselfconsciously . . . Margaret loved Michael with unassailable devotion, and Michael was dying. So she did the hardest […]

I was going to use for Bingo, but I had way too many saved reviews and needed to pick!

The Great Puptective V03 The Big Mousetake by Alina Tysoe

The Great Puptective V03 The Big Mousetake by Alina Tysoe is a cute third story in her Puptective series and has lots and lots of fun extras.  Oh, I probably should introduce the series. If you are not familiar with the Great Puptective series (book one is The Great Puptective and volume two Purranormal Activity) you should read them first. While book three is a bit of a standalone title, you’re going to want to have read all the books about this precocious pup and […]

Forgettable Fighting

The God of High School vol. 1 by Yongje Park

Bingo 1: VS One thing I love about my local public library system is that they have multiple summer reading challenges, including one for adults. Yes, with prizes too. Most years, the final finishing prize is a book; this year was no exception. What was a little different was that a) the half—way prize was also a book, and b) they’d “sold out” of nearly everything I’d have gone for way early. So, I picked out my finishing prize book from the YA section, a […]
