Winnie-the-Pooh: The Graphic Novel by A.A. Milne, Kevan Chandler (Adapter), Joe Sutphin (Adapter/Illustrator)
It took a bit to read this because I was using an online reader, and a few pages were “split,” so I couldn’t get the “full picture” with images. I also “put down” the reader to start reading other books as it is not due until October 2026 and figured I had some time to finish at a later date.
The original story and this book might vary a bit from each other, but I think Chandler and Sutpin kept to the spirit of things, if not keeping almost word for word. While there is a classically leaning tone, keeping with the old school Silly Ol’ Bear, there is also a modern tone as well. It feels new, but not brand new. We know the story, we know where things are going as they cover the stories we have seen in Disney animated films and even what I know of from the original book.
The pace is like the river of Pooh sticks, just floating along. Things feel “lazy and child-like” because the pacing is unhurried, reflecting the Pooh Bear we know and love, but there is also a quick paced atmosphere as well. I read the first few stories only, as while I enjoyed things, I was not totally “feeling it.” Perhaps if I find a finished copy, I could sit and enjoy it more if I was in a quiet space, book in hand, and not on my computer screen.
If you love Winnie the Pooh and friends, this is just another way to show your love of them.
