Kills Well With Others: Deadly Old Broads Part 2

Kills Well With Others by Deanna Raybourn

April 7, 2026 by beereadsbooks Leave a Comment

At this point I’m a bit fuzzy on the finer points because I finished this book about a month ago. We pick up with our protagonists about a year or so since we left them. They have gone their separate ways again for the time being, and they’re still struggling to get their retirement from the Museum sorted out. Naomi – the new or interim new head of the Museum approaches them with an off-the-books job tidying up a mess that a mole in the […]

Although she is, in fact, the heroine of a novel, the fact is that Ms. Emma Lion, of The Unselected Journals of Emma M.Lion, Vol 1-5, feels like flesh & blood, throughout every moment & page of these books.  Everything she goes through, even the most absurd, has an aura of authenticity that has me willingly following her into places – and emotions – I would not ordinarily, voluntarily venture. Her author, Ms. Beth Brower, has packed these pages full of wisdom and wit unexpected in […]

Do Hard Things

Smile, or You're Doing it Wrong by Andy Glaze

March 29, 2026 by Sophia 1 Comment

As I write this, Andy Glaze is almost 100 miles into the Arizona Monster 300 Trail Race. It’s over 300 miles of mostly trail running with a cut off of seven days. It’s really beyond my comprehension. I’ve backpacked about 250 miles, but it took me three weeks. Ten to fifteen miles of hiking per day with plenty of sleep is nothing like what’s happening in Arizona right now. I stumbled upon Andy on Instagram. He is a fire battalion chief in California and an ultrarunner. […]

History May Not Repeat Itself But It Does Rhyme

The Book Club for Troublesome Women by Marie Bostwick

March 29, 2026 by ASKReviews Leave a Comment

Rating: 3.5 Stars In a nutshell: Four women living outside D.C. in the 1960s find themselves at crossroads, motivated by reading ‘The Feminine Mystique.’ Best for: Those who enjoy stories of women finding themselves. Those who need a reminder of where we’ve been given where we are headed. Quote that made me think: “Somebody has to have the babies, don’t they? If they can?” Why I chose it: I was looking for a book about women, written by a women, as I’ve been reading a […]

The Obake Code by Makana Yamamoto

Lesbian Space Heist 2 – 2 Lesbian 2 Heist

The Obake Code by Makana Yamamoto

March 28, 2026 by Emmalita Leave a Comment

Last year, Hammajang Luck was one of my favorite reads, so I was delighted when I saw that there was a book 2 and it was out now and the audio was available through my library. The audiobook becoming available in time for the 2026 Trans Rights Readathon felt like kismet. The Obake Code is largely a standalone, though I do think everyone should read Hammajang Luck because it is excellent. Jolene Kim did a lot as narrator. She had different voices for Malia’s inside thoughts, […]

Fall in love with NOLA swamps

Grandpere's Ghost Swamp by Rachel M. Marsh

March 25, 2026 by LB Leave a Comment

I was immediately drawn to Grandpere’s Ghost Swamp because of its wonderful cover, and the synopsis absolutely sold it. I loved Basil trying to figure out what she wants to do for career day (which absolutely is NOT restaurant even though her parents believe she’ll be third generation!) while also dealing with the grief of losing her g’pere. But at his funeral, she sees his ghost and he sends her on a quest of sorts to learn more about their Cajun roots, and along the […]
