A pop culture junkie, Katie has an addiction to tragically bad romance novels. In addition, Katie is resolute in her belief that Evans is #BestChris and has moved to the PNW from the Bayou. Can anyone say culture shock?

He’s Got “Legs” and He Knows How To Use Them

Katie: So, I get this email from Patty telling me about this book that she’s come across that HAS to be our next review. I’m skeptical, but since she was willing to pay, I couldn’t say no. I was very pleasantly surprised to really enjoy the first forty pages or so of Wriggle and Sparkle by Megan Derr. Enough so that I messaged her at 730 in the morning: Patty: I don’t… I’m not sure how to… So there’s a kraken and a unicorn and […]

Here Be Dragons

August 5, 2016 by katie71483 2 Comments

Katie: In some ways, the first installment in Kristen Ashley’s Fantasyland Series is a bit of a departure for her. It’s got a strong fantasy theme designed to appeal to geek girls who like romance. There are witches, elves, talking animals, magic spells and instances of body swapping. In others, it’s one of her typical books. The heroine is ultra femme, but kick ass, while the hero is prone to some grunting and physically moving the heroine around where he wants her to be. That […]

Naughty Vikings Need Love Too

August 1, 2016 by katie71483 1 Comment

Sigh. We were all set to have a guest reviewer for this installment, but she went on vacation and we couldn’t hold back the snark any longer…. Patty: Mother Mary… Not even a page in and already the prologue has a menu that lists ram testicles and a whole passage on Viking fat-shaming. Are we going to use Viking names for this or our vampire names, Khatie and Phatty? Because mine applies either way. Katie: I don’t know what it was about the cover […]

Chernobyl in book form

July 3, 2016 by katie71483 6 Comments

WARNING: This review may trigger some reactions for people who have been violated intimately. Katie71483 here. I’m writing solo for this one. You all know that I hate read KA the way others hate watch bad television. It’s like a train wreck – you know it’s going to be awful, but you can’t look away either. Most recently I’ve been working my way through her Rock Chick series which has EIGHT!!! installments. Rock Chick Regret is book seven, and easily the most problematic in an […]

Watch out, Temple Grandin. Here comes Robbie!

May 25, 2016 by katie71483 2 Comments

Robbie Clark, all around awesome guy and a talented author and artist, is a young cousin of mine. Four years ago, I attended his graduation from Gus Grissom High School in Huntsville, Ala. Not too long afterwards, he announced his intention to write his life story. Knowing that there are amazing things going on in that mind, but that communication is often an issue, I was really excited about this prospect. By turns heartbreaking and bursting with positive energy, In My Words: Stories of an […]

This may be cause for a mutiny

April 29, 2016 by katie71483 2 Comments

So, I get this message from Patty the other day: “You won’t believe this, but the new Kristen Ashley is kinda good.” Evidently all of my pain in the past wasn’t enough for her. I mean, this is practically a double dog dare to make me read the book. Why does she do this to me??? I feel like I’m banging my head against a wall while she points and laughs. Bounty is book 7 in Kristen Ashley’s Colorado Mountain series. Or maybe book 8. […]
