You learn something new everyday

Sweet Berries by CM Nascosta

June 8, 2022 by katie71483 12 Comments

Several months ago, I read a monster romance by C.M. Nascosta and could not get over by how fantastic it was. That book was Morning Glory Milking Farm, and it is a gem. (You can find that review here, if you’re interested.) I was greatly excited to hear that they have a new book coming out, Sweet Berries. I enjoyed MGMF so much that I went ahead and pre-ordered Berries on my Kindle without even reading the blurb – Nascosta had shot to the top […]

I feel like there’s a Tracy Chapman song in there somewhere

Wildseed Witch by Marti Dumas

May 12, 2022 by katie71483 4 Comments

I feel like Tracy Chapman could read Wildseed Magic by Marti Dumas and find a song or five to write about. This is an absolutely lovely novel aimed at tweens ages 10-14. It is literally about Black Girl Magic. For a novel that could very easily be compared in many ways with Harry Potter, I would recommend this one any day of the week over that series. It has a multitude of themes and all of them are handled with a deft touch. It centers […]

If Stephen King, James Cameron and Stanley Kubrick had a baby…

Dead Silence by S.A. Barnes

February 13, 2022 by katie71483 2 Comments

Read this book. Just do it. Whether it’s kindle or paper or audio, I don’t care. Dead Silence by S.A. Barnes is fan-freaking-tastic, a true escape from whatever is going on in your world. I feel like I should be up front about this: S.A. Barnes is a Facebook friend of mine, and has been for many years. For that matter, she’s been a friend to Cannonball Read. She’s been so kind as to contribute signed copies of her books* to CBR in the past […]

Hello from the other side

Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone by Diana Gabaldon

November 25, 2021 by katie71483 5 Comments

Two days ago, Diana Gabaldon released Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, the long awaited ninth installment of her popular Outlander series. It’s been more than seven years since the last installment. So, I have been reading and ruminating for approximately 48 hours as I sit down to write this review. I’ve got a good many thoughts about this novel – it is more than 950 pages long on my Kindle, after all – but I’m not sure how many of them I […]

OTT everything, with the Jeff Bezos song as a Soundtrack

Kings of Quarantine: A Dark High School Bully Romance (Brutal Boys of Everlake Prep Book 1) by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti

Kings of Lockdown: A Dark High School Bully Romance (Brutal Boys of Everlake Prep Book 2) by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti

Kings of Anarchy: A Dark High School Bully Romance (Brutal Boys of Everlake Prep Book 3) by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti

Queen of Quarantine (Brutal Boys of Everlake Prep Book 4) by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti

This quartet has been all over my Kindle Unlimited recommendations as well as SmutTok. I was hesitant to give it a try – for while I seem to have an enormous weakness for romances featuring alphaholes (Hey, Kristen Ashley and JR Ward, I’m looking at you…), I’m not a huge fan of bully romances. And Kings of Quarantine, Kings of Lockdown, Kings of Anarchy and Queen of Quarantine all live up to their tagline: Brutal Boys of Everlake Prep. It is a finger scorching, reverse […]

Birthdays and Friendships

Solutions and Other Problems by Allie Brosh

September 22, 2021 by Emmalita 17 Comments

Big birthday greeting to my birthday twin, MsWas, to Katie71483 whose birthday was on Sunday, and to Prolixity Julien whose birthday was some time ago and will happen again in the future. Happy birthday to Allie Brosh. I have no idea when her birthday is, but I’m glad she keeps having them. And happy birthday to you, do something nice for yourself. You can tell me about it in the comments, or any other place you might find me. Last year, Katie71483, MsWas and Prolixity […]
