Nightwork

Nightwork by Nora Roberts

July 8, 2022 by Classic Leave a Comment

I think it’s time for Roberts to just write a straight up mystery and forget about the romance side of things. You can feel her itching to do it. This is supposedly romantic suspense, but it’s so light on that it feels like a misnomer to categorize it as such. It doesn’t help that we follow a character (Harry Booth) that is so morally grey you have to wonder why Roberts has him as our “hero.” “Nightwork” follows Harry Booth who at age 9 starts […]

Good job, Past Me

Hideaway by Nora Roberts

June 6, 2022 by NTE Leave a Comment

Nora Roberts is one of my go-to authors – if I’m looking for a book that is just dependable for an entertaining read, I know she’s not going to let me down. She used to be a ‘read immediately upon publication’ author, but I find that if I save her new-to-me-books for days when I just can’t get into anything, or when I’m on day three of a migraine (the day that’s more like a migraine hangover for me, where I can kind of focus, […]

Interesting plot rather let down by stock characters

Whiskey Beach by Nora Roberts

February 25, 2022 by Dinah Lord 2 Comments

About a year or so ago, I bought a few of Nora Roberts’ romantic thrillers, but only found this one this week after getting Katee Robert’s Dark Olympus titles through Apple Books (normally I read ebooks via Kindle). The Nora Roberts formula seems to be: throw two characters with traumatic or difficult pasts together in a small town setting, and have them resolve some of their past issues through dealing with a current threat. In previous titles, it’s been the nominal hero disregarding the heroine’s […]

A dated serial killer drama

Sacred Sins by Nora Roberts

July 9, 2021 by Catticus Finch 1 Comment

I haven’t read a lot of books by Nora Roberts, despite her prolific output.  I borrowed this one, as it appeared to be a stand alone in comparison to most of her trilogies, and I didn’t realize at first that it was published way back in the late 1980s!  I suppose it was a testament to the story that it didn’t jump out at me immediately that there were no cell phones or Google searches.  However, that doesn’t mean it was all good! The main […]

New Year, New Me – Book 1!

Honest Illusions by Nora Roberts

March 4, 2021 by KatSings 5 Comments

Well, I’m back! I read 45 books last year and reviewed not a single one. It’s a shame, too – I read some really great stuff last year. Oh well, no sense harping on the past. Rather, let’s move ahead! Honest Illusions is another Nora Roberts book. If you’ve read a lot of my reviews, you know I read her fairly frequently. This is a stand alone, recommended to me (and purchased for me) by a friend. This romance focuses on the family Nouvelle, a […]

A meh from La Nora

Hideaway by Nora Roberts

February 10, 2021 by Lynn Leave a Comment

Sometimes, when I think I’m busy, I think about Nora Roberts, and I realize that there is no way I can possibly be as busy as she is. This woman has written approximately eleventy billions books, and Hideaway is her latest. Normally, I like Nora’s stand-alone novels. Yes, they’re predictable in that Nora-esque way, but they’re like watching an episode of Law and Order. You know the characters, you know pretty much what’s going to happen, the details don’t exactly matter because the basic framework […]
