It wasn’t long after I’d finished reading Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews that I decided I needed to read the next book in their Hidden Legacies series. White Hot (2017) is book two out of three, and I was looking forward to some more adventures with Nevada Baylor and Connor “Mad” Rogan. The Hidden Legacy Books take place in a world where magic is both common and important. Those who are the most powerful are called Primes, and their families rule the city and the social scene. Nevada […]
More Please.
I started a review of this a week or so ago, but I couldn’t think of much to say. I find it harder to review books that are further along in a series, especially a series I don’t think a whole lot of people are reading. Reviews are often a conversation with other readers, even if the other readers aren’t reading my review. Anyway, I didn’t know how to approach my review of Wildfire. One difficulty was that this was the last book in the […]
A very satisfying ending, for now. I hope there will be more books
Spoiler warning! This is the third book in a series, and the review will contain spoilers for the previous two books. If you haven’t read any of the books yet, start with Burn for Me. If you aren’t caught up with the series, maybe come back for this review later. Instead of being able to spend Christmas with her new boyfriend, Connor Rogan, one of the most powerful and magically gifted men in the United States, Nevada Baylor has to rush back to her family once they discover […]
The Traffic is the Least Believable Element
White Hot is the second in the Hidden Legacy series. It was much delayed, and probably better for it. The cover is awful. Ignore the cover. The book is good. The first book, Burn for Me, was good too, but this one is better. After the events of Burn For Me, Nevada Baylor has decided to learn more about magic and her own magical talents. She hasn’t had to worry about romance because Mad Connor Rogan took her at her word and has left her alone. A […]
Excellent book, God-awful cover. Seriously, Avon Marketing Department, WTF?
This is book 2 in a trilogy and if you’ve not read Burn for Me yet, that’s where you really should begin. While you could begin the story with this one, you’ll get a better introduction to the story, characters and world-building if you start with book 1. It’s been a few months since the events of the first book, and Nevada has been practising her abilities, learning more about what she can do and how she can control them. She insists makes Augustine Montgomery […]
“I would really like to know”, he said with genuine curiosity. “The next time I kill someone, I’d like to do it in a way that doesn’t freak you out.”
4.5 stars This book originally came out back in 2014, but was re-released earlier this year, after the two planned sequels took longer to produce than planned. The second book in the trilogy will now be out at the end of May, while the third and final book comes out in July. I’m giddy with anticipation and have already pre-ordered the sequels. My first review of the book can be found here. Spoiler warning! This review will mainly deal with my thoughts of re-reading it, and […]
