The Adventures of Team Pom V01: Squid Happen by Isabel Roxas

The Adventures of Team Pom V02: The Last Dodo by Isabel Roxas

I have been trying to read The Adventures of Team Pom V01: Squid Happen and The Adventures of Team Pom V02: The Last Dodo for I do not know how long! I found an online reader copy ages ago, and when I recently uncovered it, unlike the others that are older and have been deactivated, these two never went away. And I am glad it did not, as Isabel Roxas has one funny story series on their hands. Publisher description says for book one: it […]

Hard book to write about, easy book to read

Worried Whippet: A Book of Bravery (For Adults and Kids Struggling with Anxiety) by Jess Bolton

Worried Whippet: A Book of Bravery (For Adults and Kids Struggling with Anxiety) by Jess Bolton is a cozy story about how a whippet learns to find the balance between afraid and not afraid, needing an indoor/sleeping like a cushion day and walking outside in the world with its “dangers”, and the fear of new experiences. Sweet illustrations show the adventures and misadventures (stolen chips anyone?) Written in the English of the UK (chips means French fries), though available, was read via an online reader […]

Spirited V03 Greenhouse of Horror by Liv Livingston

Spirited V03 Greenhouse of Horror by Liv Livingston, Glass House Graphics and illustrated by Anna Volcan is due in July 2024. Therefore, as books one and two, this was read via an online reader copy. Book four is due in October 2024 but I’m still looking for a reader copy. However, if you want to read all four at once, in mid-November 2024 the collection of all four books will be available in a boxed edition. And honestly, I think you should (or use your […]

Spirited V02 Go, Ghoul, Go! by Liv Livingston

The one thing I have with sequels is that if I read them too far apart, I forget parts of book one/the book(s) before. And that happened with  Spirited V02 Go, Ghoul, Go! by Liv Livingston and Glass House Graphics. I mean, I remembered that Liv is the only living person (if you don’t count the werewolves and creatures of the swamp and such, I don’t count vampires) in a school of mostly ghosts. I remembered that she has two good friends, a “mean-girl” in […]

Hugo’s Haunted Handbook by Dave Whamond

by Leave a Comment

Hugo’s Haunted Handbook by Dave Whamond is a cute story about getting rid of a “scary ghost” who maybe is not as scary as you think, or as “gone” as you might hope. The humor is modern, with some cleverness for both the aimed reader (stronger age six/seven to around age 10) and adults. Along the lines of Fitz and Cleo by Jonathan Stutzman and Simon and Chester by Cale Atkinson. Things are simple, and the artwork is what you need to watch so you […]

The Witch's Throne volume one by Cedric Caballes

by Leave a Comment

I like graphic novels, enjoy some fantasy and if a story has comedy and adventure, that is not a turn off. And The Witch’s Throne volume one by Cedric Caballes is all the above.  Set up as if you are playing a Dungeons & Dragon like online game, there are multiple stories going along simultaneously with about a dozen main characters. However, it is not always clear when you are moving onto them, and with the several characters and several story-lines all at once, things […]
