Second Verse, Same as the First! But a little bit louder and darker

Haru Book 2: Summer by Joe Latham

by Leave a Comment

In February 2024 I read book one of Haru by Joe Latham (or Haru 1: Spring). In August of 2024 I read Haru Book 2: Summer still by Joe Latham. Both were read via an online reader copy but I was thinking I would purchase copies of both when book two came out. However, it is not due until October 2024 and I am glad I did not wait. This is because Book Two is much darker than Book One was. Things are more layered […]

Headed to the Moon

Rocket Beams, Lunar Dreams by Chiara Colombi

by Leave a Comment

Rocket Beams, Lunar Dreams by Chiara Colombi and illustrated by Scott Magoon is due in February 2025. However, I am glad I had the opportunity to read via an online reader’s copy. The book’s theme is not new, but told in a way that even I learned a few things and I am terribly excited to put this on teacher and parent radars. The idea is about envy and jealousy. Rocket is ready to go to the moon. She can’t wait! Except at the last […]

Defender of the cosmos! Vanquisher of evil! Failure at frisbee!

Mr. Muffins by Georgeo Brooks

Mr. Muffins by Ben Kahn and illustrated by Georgeo Brooks might not be due until mid-January 2025, but I think people should know about this graphic novel now. Not because I have read several books by Kahn or Brooks and loved them all (I haven’t) but because I think now I might see what I can find and that this book is going to be a fun read for most people. This is not a new idea. The theme is “You are afraid, but it’s […]

Animal Book Round Up Time

The Knight Owl #2 Knight Owl and Early Bird by Christopher  Denise

The Boy and the Elephant by Freya Blackwood

It is Animal Book Round Up Time! Both books were read via an online reader copy.  The Knight Owl #2 Knight Owl and Early Bird is the second Knight Owl book by Christopher  Denise. (Though you must wait until mid October 2024 for it to be available.) We now have a young early bird who wants to be a Knight Owl as well, but of course, things do not work out as well as they would have liked. After all they are not an owl, […]

Coffee, unicorns and music

Shy Steve by Katerina Spaeth

Giddy Up, Unicorn! by Dani Gomez

Eloísa's Musical Window by Margarita Engle

Picture books all around me. How many can I read? Well, I try to read all of them, but of course, it’s impossible. So, I do the best I humanly can to make sure I find the right one(s) for me. Then, I narrow it down to the ones I want to review. That is not as easy as it sounds. But I was able to find a few for this review. All were read via online reader copies. We can start with Shy Steve […]

Ironheart: the other metal superhero

Marvel-Verse: Ironheart by Eve L. Ewing and various

Another book in the Marvel-Verse graphic novel series I found is Marvel-Verse: Ironheart by Eve L. Ewing, Brian Michael Bendis, Kevin Libranda, Luciano Vecchio, Marco Rudy, Nico Leon and a few others. I hadn’t planned on writing another Marvel review (even though I have read two of the baddies,  Marvel-Verse: Kang and Marvel-Verse: Kraven the Hunter, plus two of the Guardians of the Galaxy comics: Marvel-Verse: Rocket & Groot and Marvel-Verse: Guardians of the Galaxy. But honestly, I was not as impressed with them as I had […]
