I can’t stop thinking about my lost pizza.

The Kamogawa Food Detectives (The Kamogawa Food Detectives, #1) by Hisashi Kashiwai

February 23, 2026 by narfna 2 Comments

I maintain that this premise is amazing, and it needs to exist in real life. The idea of food I will never taste again HAUNTS ME. I am not even being dramatic, I am being so real with you right now. (My #1 pick for this would be Pizza D’Amore’s piping hot square pizza slices, in the Paradise Valley Mall. AND I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE.) I will also admit that the premise hit me so strongly that I gave this book more stars than […]

“I wasn’t just going to abandon you, Carl,” Donut said. “Who do you think I am? Miss Beatrice?”

The Dungeon Anarchist's Cookbook by Matt Dinniman

February 22, 2026 by Malin 1 Comment

Carl, Donut and Mongo have made it to the fourth level of the dungeon. This time, there are trains. So many trains. The game appears to have constructed a labyrinthine tangle of all of the world’s underground railway systems, and there are new and strange rules to get used to. There are bounties awarded to anyone who kills any of the players in the top ten, which now include both Carl and Donut. There are all manner of strange monsters on the various trains and […]

The Tomb of Dragons by Katherine Addison

February 22, 2026 by CoffeeShopReader Leave a Comment

I knew that The Tomb of Dragons was part 3 of a trilogy that was itself kind of a side series from a stand-alone novel The Goblin Emperor. Now all four are being framed as “Within the Chronicles of Osreth” (back cover), so I’m really hoping there’s going to be more of this world and characters. The Tomb of Dragons is a good ending with decent closure for Thara Celehar’s story, but there’s also plenty of room left open for more to come, including the […]

The Keeper by Tana French

The Keeper by Tana French

February 22, 2026 by Classic Leave a Comment

Please note that I received this book via NetGalley. This did not affect my rating or review. I don’t even know what to say. I can count on one hand the number of French’s books that just didn’t hit right with me and I am sad to say, the latest Cal Hopper did not hit right. I think that the sad part of it really is for me that French didn’t go dark as she has in her previous installments of this series. It just […]

The Witch’s Orchard by Archer Sullivan

February 22, 2026 by Jen K Leave a Comment

In addition to author events, the local independent bookstore hosts a few book clubs. When I moved here, the sessions were closed but I signed up for two of them when they opened for the spring. This was the first selection for the Southern Lit book club, which is also the one I am doing with my mom. Overall, it was a good book. Even though I like mysteries, this isn’t one I would have likely picked up on my own since I tend to […]

“Why is it I tell you all my secrets?” “Because you like the way I look draped over a tree branch?”

Beast Business by Ilona Andrews

February 21, 2026 by Malin Leave a Comment

Augustine Montgomery is the head of a very successful investigative agency and a deeply private man. He is an illusion Prime, who can alter his appearance at will, and there are very few people alive who know what he actually looks like. Augustine presents himself to the world as calculated, efficient, ruthless and detached. He is never swayed by emotion and has very few friends as a result. Diana Harrison is the Head of House Harrison and a very powerful animal mage. Like Augustine, she […]
