I like trying to get all the Bingo categories as “pure” as possible. Even if I go with the spirit of things. And don’t like using Free Space if I can help it. It’s just a fun challenge for me. But I had the hardest  time with Fan Fiction. But eventually I found one that fit perfectly! And since the category is way out of my wheelhouse, I was very excited! I wasn’t going to have to use my FREE SPACE. But I could have […]

Camp Nowhere #1: Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow by Lea Taddonio

PAWS: Priya Puts Herself First by Nathan Fairbairn

Two books that found their way to my reading pile recently were one of my least favorite reads this year (so far), and the other was one that helped take out a lot of my “it’s an icky world out there” feelings away. As I said, I think  Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow (Camp Nowhere #1) by Lea Taddonio and illustrator Michelle Lamoreaux is one of my least favorite reads this year.  I borrowed these statements from other reviewers.   * “combine the idea of a comic […]

I was reading a few online reader copies the other day. They were all amusing, each in their own way (or not as you’ll see below). They all have a future publication date, except one. And the first is not like the others since there are two authors/creators.  Hope It All Works Out!: A Poorly Drawn Lines Collection by Reza Farazmand is what it is! If you know/like Poorly Drawn Lines the comic, you can get your fix with all of these funny, thoughtful and […]

The journey of the Wings of Fire Graphic Novel series was not a smooth one as I read volumes one and two out of order. Therefore, read the series in order, take your time and try to read as close together as possible as things pick up where we leave off from the previous book and it assumes you know the backstory.  Book One: The Dragonet Prophecy by Tui T. Sutherland, Mike Holmes I have not read the novels this series is adapted from. However, considering […]

If you like(d) Avatar the Last Airbender the television series (not that “movie we don’t name” or the blue people), you might want their story to continue since there are only so many times you can rewatch the Avatar and his friends save the world. And you can do that with the graphic novels that various authors, illustrators and creators have made. You can pick up where our gang of benders and friends left off. Some will allow you to continue their stories, add that […]

A new favorite book that could not fit better into this BINGO square if it tried. CBRBINGO – Bananas

Someone You Can Build a Nest In by John Wiswell

This is a ridiculous book that I loved very much. Also, because I have low spoons at the moment and also because I couldn’t do better, here is the blurb: Shesheshen has made a mistake fatal to all monsters: she’s fallen in love. Shesheshen is a shapeshifter, who happily resides as an amorphous lump at the bottom of a ruined manor. When her rest is interrupted by hunters intent on murdering her, she constructs a body from the remains of past meals: a metal chain […]
