The Murderbot Diaries Vol. 1 by Martha Wells

The Murderbot Diaries Vol. 1 by Martha Wells

May 25, 2025 by Classic Leave a Comment

Well shit, I am all in. This was really good. People who have followed my reviews for a while know that I am a little…iffy on space opera books since I have not had a great time with them in the past. However, I am glad that I let a twee indie book seller push me on to “The Murderbot Diaries.” They were shocked I had never heard of the series and said well everyone is into them now cause of the series…so you all […]

Stag Dance by Torrey Peters

Stag Dance by Torrey Peters

May 23, 2025 by Classic 2 Comments

I thought this was a great collection. I thought the first story was great with a  sci-fi/speculative fiction bent, and the rest were interesting/great, but I think the one story entitled “Stag Dance” just went on a bit too long. It dragged down the rest of the collection. Be warned that there’s a graphic depiction of animal death in “The Chaser.” “Infect Your Friends and Loved Ones” (5 stars)-This was a great start to the collection. We hear about something called The Rift Wars where […]

Catch and Keep by Erin Hahn

Catch and Keep by Erin Hahn

Absolutely loved Catch and Keep! I thought the characters of Maren and Joe just worked. I loved the slow building romance from friends (or brother’s little sister friend) to lovers. I also loved how she worked with Joe and his kids too. I was very happy with this one and loved how the timelines skipped towards the end because I always think that romances that end with someone knowing someone else for maybe 6 weeks and getting married is bonkers. “Catch and Keep” follows Maren […]

Full Exposure by Thien-Kim Lam

Full Exposure by Thien-Kim Lam

May 19, 2025 by Classic 2 Comments

Oh man. This was so so freaking good. I think I enjoyed it so much because I live near DC and have traveled to New Orleans. Thien-Kim Lam captures both cities and the culture very well. She also wrote a very kick-ass hot romance with two leads that I was fully invested in almost as soon as I turned the page. “Full Exposure” follows Josie Parks (a boudoir photographer) who is in New Orleans for a wedding. When the two brides call it off, Josie […]

The Love Haters by Katherine Center

The Love Haters by Katherine Center

May 19, 2025 by Classic 4 Comments

Trigger warning: Body image discussions and disordered eating. This book was provided to me via NetGalley. This did not affect my rating or review. Oh geez, I tried to get into this one. Really I did. But it was boring. I just didn’t like it and instead really enjoyed two other romances I read this past week much more. I think it’s just because Center had the character of Katie just doing the Too Stupid to Live (TSTL) thing and I just could not after […]

Slaying You by Michelle Gagnon

Slaying You by Michelle Gagnon

May 14, 2025 by Classic Leave a Comment

Please note that I received this book via NetGalley. This did not affect my rating or review. Well our serial killer hunter duo pops up again. If you have not read “Killing Me” you are going to be totally lost, so suggest that you don’t try to read this as a stand-alone. It’s been about a year, and Amber has a new girlfriend named Kat. Amber is making her way back to Las Vegas for her friend Dot’s wedding. Amber is still dealing with the […]
