“In my humble opinion, pride is a fairly common sin, because everyone thinks very highly of themselves.”

Unmarriageable by Soniah Kamal

As anyone who has been part of the Cannonball Read for a while knows, I simply do not have the power to resist a Jane Austen retelling. Even if I’ve heard terrible things about it, I’m probably still going to read it. Unofficial sequels, modernizations, books told from alternate points of view? I am ALL IN. Every Pride and Prejudice retelling is an excuse to post Firth gifs

Unmarriageable by Soniah Kamal

Pride & Prejudice retelling set in Pakistan (which doesn’t quite work)

Unmarriageable: A Novel by Soniah Kamal

This is a new publication (pub Jan 22, 2019), a retelling of Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice set in Pakistan.  I love, love, love Pride & Prejudice, re-read it regularly and also read most re-tellings/re-imaginings (except the zombie one, I can’t get my head around that at all!!).   My favorite of these is Eligible by Curtis Sittenfield.  But it feels rude to talk about that book in a review of a completely different book but do check it out if you like P&P re-tellings. Ms. […]

I suspect I got more enjoyment reading your review than you did of the actual book. "Jail, jail for author...

This sounds perfectly awful, but I do love this review.

I wish I had read this review before I bought this Audible book. I am just at the halfway point...
