On your marks, get set, Go have one whacky adventure with our less than heroic heroes

Adventure Zone Volume 3 Petals to the Metal by Clint McElroy

July 30, 2020 by BlackRaven 5 Comments

When I first started my graphic novel journey, I found First Second publishers. Then, in my madness to read all that had been written by authors from this publisher (which by the way I don’t recommend as there are too damn many!) I found The Adventure Zone by The McElroy’s (Clint, Griffin, Travis and Justin) and illustrated by Carey Pietsch. In many ways this third book in the Adventure Zone series (which is called Petals to the Metal if you are curious) is not as […]

Sadie by Courtney Summers

March 9, 2020 by cosbrarian Leave a Comment

First off, you MUST read the audiobook version of this, put that print edition down, the audio is where it’s at! West McCray is a public-radio type audio personality who specializes in stories about small nobody-towns in America.  One day at a gas station, he learns about a local girl who has gone missing. Sadie Hunter was grieving the recent and brutal murder of her sister Mattie when she disappeared. Local police believe it to be a simple case of a runaway not worth pursuing, […]

If you’re a Murderino, you already like this book

Stay Sexy & Don't Get Murdered by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark

July 17, 2019 by Bothari43 Leave a Comment

This is absolutely delightful fluff, and if you like the podcast My Favorite Murder, you will like this book. It’s like sitting down and having a cup of coffee with Georgia and Karen. Their stories and essays are loosely grouped into sections based on advice and catchphrases that have come out of the podcast, like “Stay Out of the Forest,” and “You’re in a Cult, Call Your Dad.” Mostly, though, it’s just an excuse for them to ramble (which they are oh so good at) […]

Stay Sexy & Don't Get Murdered: The Definitive How-To Guide by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark

May 31, 2019 by sistercoyote 6 Comments

Where my Murderinos at? Part self-help book (kinda), part memoir (mostly), and all kinds of things you didn’t know about Georgia and Karen (and probably weren’t afraid to ask), Stay Sexy & Don’t Get Murdered is a breezy, easy read with some serious points underlying all the humor — a lot like the “My Favorite Murder” podcast only written down in a version you can hold! We have gone from living inside your headphones to pouring ourselves out onto the page like a couple of […]
