Cause we’re going to the chapel and we’re gonna get married…

October 16, 2017 by Lynn 4 Comments

I’ve read the Bride Quartet before, but sometimes, you just need a little Nora Roberts escapism. And I had forgotten about this series until that we were talking about that stupid New York Times Review of Books piece, and so I hopped on to the library website, and suddenly, I was back at Vows with Parker, Laurel, Emma, and Mac, dreaming of fairy tale weddings where every bride has a completely unlimited budget and nobody has diabetes from eating too much wedding cake. I swear, […]

Noon in the Garden of Good & Evil

July 31, 2017 by Lynn 1 Comment

I do this thing where I keep a running list of my book titles in my drafts folder, so when I have downtime, or when the inspiration strikes, I can go back and write my reviews. I’m very undisciplined in my review-writing, as evidenced by the fact that it’s May July and I’m reviewing stuff I read in January. Anyway, I was going down the list and saw the title High Noon and had to look it up on Amazon. Usually the cover sparks a […]

Sequel Does Not Work as Well as the First Book In Series

January 23, 2017 by Classic 2 Comments

Please note that I gave this book 2.5 stars and rounded it up to 3 stars for the purposes of this review.  Trigger warning: rape.  I read this for Romance Book Bingo: Love is Murder square. So book #2 definitely does not work as well as book #1 does. The story-line felt very rushed (the hero declares his love for the heroine before they even make love, proposes marriage after they make love for the first time) and the serial rapist/murderer did not work real […]

Mr. Serial Killer Comes to Washington

January 23, 2017 by Classic 2 Comments

I read this for Romance Book Bingo 2017: Headless Woman square. I vaguely recall reading this book when I was a teenager. I re-read it because I was totally light on details. I think I ended up getting bored with it and never finishing it though. If the book didn’t have a cover with a woman half out of a dress with Fabio and his flowing mane of hair I tended to not sneak those from my mom. Sacred Sins is a pretty good procedural […]

The Artist, The House-sitter and The Faberge Eggs

January 6, 2017 by Mikki Blu 6 Comments

Nora Roberts is an amazingly prolific author, (seriously, does this woman sleep?) but I’ve only read a few of her books.   I did read the trilogy, “The Cousins O’Dwyer”, of which I devoured the first book, thought the second book was okay and then slogged through the last one.  I then tried to read another trilogy, “Three Sisters Island”, and it was so much the same thing that I gave up on it.  So why did I pick up this one at the library?  It’s […]

Three Sisters, One Island, Three Great Books

November 17, 2016 by KatSings 1 Comment

“Doing nothing sometimes hurts more than doing something. Life doesn’t come with a guarantee, which is just as well, because most guarantees are bullshit.”  Three Sisters Island Trilogy – Review at KatsCannon Readers of my reviews know I love a good Nora Roberts trilogy, and this is no exception. It’s been a hell of a year for me (well, let’s be honest, for everyone) and so a lot of my reading has trended towards the simple and easy to enjoy. Nora is the best for […]
