Sueño Bay Adventures V01 Shadow Island by Mike Deas and Nancy Deas

October 15, 2024 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I was glad I read book five of the Sueño Bay Adventures before reading Sueño Bay Adventures V01 Shadow Island by Mike Deas and Nancy Deas. This first book was weak. It had no lead up to the reason why the main character, Ollie, is living on the island with his grandfather. We are  several weeks into his stay with the opening, but we have no reason to care that he is having issues. It seems as if he is making friends. He seems to […]

Race against the tide

Crystal Cave (Sueño Bay Adventures, Volume 5) by Nancy Deas and Mike Deas

October 11, 2024 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

For the most part, you can read Crystal Cave (Sueño Bay Adventures, Volume 5) by Nancy Deas and Mike Deas separately from the others in the series. However, I am assuming it probably is best to start with book one, Shadow Island (I wasn’t sure who/what the pet/friend of our main character was). The story itself is not necessarily a new one, but it is told in a fun way that keeps you reading. Good illustrations and a nice fantasy/mystery/realistic story. The idea is that […]

Grab a buddy

The Buddy Bench by Patty Brozo

November 19, 2019 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

The Buddy Bench is an idea that a student learned of from Germany (see the afterwards of the book). It is a bench that students who want to play but are shy, have issues talking, are new, etc. can sit on to show they would like to play with someone. Then, the other students can go over and ask them to play. The rules are spelled out in the back of the book (but of course, you can modify them). One is you have to […]
