Officer Clawsome V01 Kelpcake Crisis!   by Brain Smitty Smith

March 20, 2023 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

CBR15Passport  already own  As the description says of this Brain Smitty Smith graphic novel, Officer Clawsome: Kelpcake Crisis!  this is Dogman meets Spongebob. And if you like them, you will like this. There is a bit of “James Bond-like” elements with a few villains (there is a mechanical shark that has one heck of a bad diet…I mean eating garbage is one thing, but whole buildings?), but overall, everything is straight forward and not overly “sophisticated.” Then again, a talking lobster who is a former […]

Hawai’i Sea Turtle Rescue by Fabien Cousteau

July 12, 2022 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

If Mark Trail met Jeff Corwin met Steve Irwin met Fabien Cousteau, you would have Hawai’i Sea Turtle Rescue. Fabien Cousteau is the grandson to the famous Jacques Cousteau, and he seems to have an equal passion for wildlife and the ocean. He also seems to have a high opinion of himself, and the first few pages of this fiction formatted non-fiction graphic novel talks about the wonderful things he has accomplished (working with sharks, finding new species of piranha). With that humble bragging aside, […]

It’s a crab! It’s a submarine! It’s SUPER NARWHAL!

Super Narwhal and Jelly Jolt (A Narwhal and Jelly Book #2 by Ben Clanton

April 2, 2019 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

Super Narwhal and Jelly Jolt (A Narwhal and Jelly Book #2) by Ben Clanton is a typical Narwhal and Jelly book. However, Narwhal is not as annoying as they have been in other books. Usually the naivetés of Narwhal borders on the frankly, stupid, and I cannot get pass that “comedy of errors and misunderstandings” (I never thought Abbot and Costello all that amusing) to enjoy the story. This time, even though Narwhal stays true to himself and personality, the story worked much better for me. Our “heroes […]
