Holy s***,” I breathed, “heckhounds.”

Grave Peril (Dresden Files #3) by Jim Butcher

February 13, 2021 by ardaigle 1 Comment

I am continuing my Dresden Files journey and so very into it. In fact, I find Jim Butcher to be a perfect fantasy antithesis of my previous read/review, which was the last in the N.K. Jemisin Broken Earth trilogy. Where Jemisin is layered and cerebral, Butcher is spoon-feeding you and a fun romp. In each book of the series, I get hints of the Tru Blood series in that Butcher ploddingly repeats himself with character intros, Harry, tortured wizard Detective; Karrin Murphy tough as nails […]

Star Trek: The Next Generation 365 by Paula M. Block, Terry J. Erdmann,

February 10, 2021 by ardaigle Leave a Comment

My first memory of Star Trek is watching it on the little TV my grandparents had sitting on the corner of their kitchen table, complete with rabbit ears and the 4 stations that would come in. We didn’t watch it constantly but when our family was visiting in the evenings after dinner it would be on while we were playing cards. I Want To Be Where the Normal People Are by Rachel Bloom

December 4, 2020 by ardaigle Leave a Comment

If you do not know who Rachel Bloom is, she is the creator/star of the CW TV Show “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.” If you don’t know what that TV show is, buckle up. It is a 45 minute musical comedy show wherein the titled “crazy ex-girlfriend” uproots her life and moves from New York to West Covina California NOT because she runs into her camp ex-boyfriend but because she wants a change of pace. (Except it’s totally because of Josh but also because she is on the […]

Big Suspense, Big Time Fun, Little Criticism

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty

August 8, 2017 by ardaigle Leave a Comment

It has been a bit since I was absolutely OBSESSED with a story, and finding out whodunnit, but Big Little Lies captured me from head to toe. I went into the novel knowing of the successful HBO miniseries and seeing trailers with competitive women jogging on the beach, and I wasn’t sure it was my cup of tea but I listened to the bajillion ladies I know who said, “OMG READ THIS BOOK” and they were all correct. Firstly, and importantly, I did this on […]
