I’m really getting into these Nobrow Press books

The Perfect Rock by Sarah Nobel

June 9, 2022 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

The story of The Perfect Rock was so-so for me. However, the illustrations of Sarah Nobel made the book well, almost perfect. Nobrow Press really has some fun, informative, interesting, and cute reads. Nobel’s story deals with sibling rivalry and family.  The publisher description says … [Read more]

I is for I like alphabet books

B is for Bison: A National Parks Primer (Babylit) by Greg Paprocki

June 9, 2022 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I think the publisher description has more text than the actual book. That is because it is an alphabet board book. However, it is not just B is for Bison: A National Parks Primer (Babylit) like the title informs us, but Greg Paprocki created a little more to the story. In the backdrop of most … [Read more]

One flighty cat

Professor Astro Cat's Frontiers of Space (This Is a Reissue of a Previous Edition) by Dominic Walliman

June 9, 2022 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

The serious tone of … [Read more]

Agatha May really likes the Anglerfish, and we learn about that in Agatha May and the Anglerfish by Nora Morrison and Jessie Ann Foley. Now, I like the Anglerfish but in mid-December 2022 you can find a gal who really likes them. Agatha is a kid who has trouble sitting still in class. Their … [Read more]

Crushed

Crushing by Sophie Burrows

June 9, 2022 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

A mostly wordless graphic novel that has well placed, but almost after thoughts, text, Crushing has slight contradictions and straight forwardness mix to create a story that is part comedy and part tragedy. Comic because it is true. Who has not had the "buns picture" sent when swiping on the … [Read more]

The harm they meant

The Known World by Edward P. Jones

June 9, 2022 by booktrovert Leave a Comment

This extraordinary novel is a very American story, set primarily in the time before the Civil War in a fictional Manchester County, Virginia. The setting and the story may be fictional, but the account of what takes place to the characters is very much rooted in the actual lived reality for people … [Read more]
