My first CBR was 2021. It was COVID and I was reading and determined to do something with the time. Two years now and I'm in a very different situation all the way around. My goal for this year is to write more reviews of how a piece of reading made me actually think and feel, not just a recap.

MegsDarcy's Reviews:

An interesting read with the story told by the least interesting character

INK WITCH, book one by Lindsay Fairleigh

May 10, 2021 by MegsDarcy Leave a Comment

I got this book for 1.99! you cannot beat a book for that price in my opinion. Especially one that has a sci-fi bent. This is the story of Kat Dubois who is an immortal stuck in the body of an 18 year old… she is 38 years old but because her body is stuck at 18 she somehow has the hormones of an 18 year old woman too? That actually sounds horrid and thankfully the author doesn’t focus on that too much. (Please notice […]

This is the perfect murder mystery for a person who is terrible at solving mysteries

Death Plays a Part by Vivian Conroy

April 20, 2021 by MegsDarcy Leave a Comment

So there I was, desperate for a new book. But not just any new book. I wanted something that would allow me to get lost in the story but not keep me up at night. A book that is engaging without making me think about it while I’m trying to work. Something light and frothy but not just a romance. Well, be careful what you wish for because this book is a Hallmark murder mystery set in Cornwall. I have no idea how I came […]

An indifferent review of A Darker Shade of Magic

A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab

April 5, 2021 by MegsDarcy Leave a Comment

I needed a distraction and the best way I can find is to get lost in a book. I can binge books the way people binge Netflix and I managed to finish this book in one day. I didn’t binge this book because I couldn’t stop reading, I needed to keep reading as a distraction and this book was a good option. The story itself is a lovely tale about being able to travel to different dimensions or versions of the same place. In this […]

Reread: Twenty years later I still love this book

The Sky is Falling by Kit Pearson

February 24, 2021 by MegsDarcy 1 Comment

When my nephews moved to a new province with their parents (my brother and his wife) I knew it would be a hard adjustment. My oldest nephew is 11 and had spent his entire life in a small town 30 minutes from a big city. He was very very happy (as children should be) and devastated to be moved not only to a whole new province but also a very large city. I wanted to try and give him something hopeful to read about going […]

Teased and Tantalized but not completely fulfilled.

Uprooted by Naomi Novik

When I found out I would have to spend 12 hours in a car by myself I knew I wanted to find an audiobook that would engage me as much as possible but not distract me. As I was travelling through the Rocky Mountains, I also wanted something that had an earthy tone. I’ve been a fan of Naomi Novik since I fell in love with the Temeraire series as a teenager. She has a beautiful lyrical writing style and weaves history and fantasy together […]
