The Greenies V01 by Emma Mills and illustrator Sarah Nicole Kennedy
Recently I have been locating many of my older links and then finding the books included in them are available, but I still have access to the links, but that is good, as I learn it is not “wow best book ever” just “that was good” so a physical copy is not wanted to keep. But that is also good as if you like the review you can run out and grab your own copy as soon as you’re done reading it.
If you or your child like a nice friendship story with realistic characters, bright and bold illustrations, and a middle-school Breakfast Club element with environmental issues with modern technology goodness, then Greenies is for you.
We have seven main characters. Our new girl who is dealing with having moved after her parents divorce, the cousin who thinks Jupitar is the best planet and will be her cuz’s ride or go to detention with, the cool girl, the two boys who are besties but also are loyal to the two girls in their troupe, and the nerdy girl who really has a big heart and great passion for her causes. They do everything from getting detention to having a sword fight with green up sticks to learning real friendship.
The Greenies V02 No Drama is due in March 2027, so you’ll have plenty of time to read about these crazy kids in volume one who are just trying to figure out how they fit into things. The best way for the reader is to see how the illustrations make each character unique and have their own personality. And since they are a bit on the younger side than Terri Libenson you can go onto them or the Real Friends series by Shannon Hale.
