Those Who Wish Me Dead by Michael Koryta

January 5, 2026 by Zirza Leave a Comment

I wrecked my splenius capitis (it’s a big muscle at the back of your neck). How, you asked? Why, by being stressy over the holidays! Ain’t life fun? Close Range by Annie Proulx

October 7, 2020 by Wanderlustful 1 Comment

Annie Proulx can write.  I realize this should be apparent since she’s won a Pulitzer for writing, but this was the first work of hers that I read and I was blown away all the same.  Close Range is a short story collection set in Wyoming, with stories that vary in length (40 pages to 2 pages) but not in punch.  She sets her stories in the rural central and eastern part of the state, focusing on working class people- because its Wyoming this means […]

Absaroka Revisited

August 12, 2016 by Jenny S 2 Comments

I decided to re-read Johnson’s first book, The Cold Dish, for a number of reasons.  One was that I attended Longmire Days in Buffalo, Wyoming, back in July and it was interesting to see the places that inspired the mythical town, Durant, and the mythical county, Absaroka, of Johnson’s books.  This along with hearing Craig Johnson talk about his work (and I’ve read all but the latest novella) made me want to start at the beginning, knowing what I know now about all the characters. […]

It is a great quote that says a lot about the Murderbot/ART relationship and the series as a whole.
