Short, snappy collection of short stories on wuv

Someone Who Will Love You in All Your Damaged Glory by Raphael Bob-Waksberg

This was a great short collection of irreverent stories, that hit a bit close to home for Personal Life Reasons but nonetheless were enjoyable to read! Recommended by Priti for Bookticle Club (an august organization that began as Happy Hour Hangout, then had a brief dalliance as Book Club before settling into Article Club for many a year, and then went into hibernation before being reborn during COVID–for a time as Bookticle Club, an attempt to sneak “Book Club” past everyone’s newly refreshed “I am […]

(4 stars) The Sentence is Death (Hawthorne #2) by Anthony Horowitz I really like Anthony Horowitz. His mystery novels are such incredible homages to the larger concept of A Mystery Novel. He manages to poke fun at the genre while simultaneously improving it with his writing. The Sentence is Death, his second novel in a series about a curmudgeonly ex-police officer named Hawthorne, was fantastic. Do you like Bojack Horseman? Do you need something to hold you over while you wait for season 6? Are you maybe nursing a sore heart or wondering if you’ll always be alone or if being with someone always feels like this or if it’ll ever just get better? Do you like run-on sentences that verge on neurotic but somehow veer just on the line between charming and twee? This is the short story collection for you. These stories speak to you and are written […]

Laugh so Loud at the Coffee Shop that the Guy Next in Line Spills His Drink (CBR11 Bingo: The Collection)

Someone Who Will Love You in All Your Damaged Glory by Raphael Bob-Waksberg

August 18, 2019 by andtheIToldYouSos 2 Comments

The bizarre come home to roost in Someone Who Will Love You in All Your Damaged Glory. Fleeting daydreams turn into years long stunted relationships, science goes too far into US history, dogs navigate the meaning of “good” and “bad”, entire stories are told in the span of half-sentences, and a Minions watch holds new and aching power. The wordplay, absurdity, and bone-deep ennui of Bob-Waksberg’s previous creation, Bojack Horseman, are ever present and ready to build you up and tear you back down to the ground. […]
