World’s Okayest Oracle (Reluctantly) Seeks Demon

I, a lactose intolerant person, love this book so much I made a cheese board for it

World’s Okayest Oracle (Reluctantly) Seeks Demon by Olivia Dade

August 4, 2026 by Emmalita 4 Comments

The thing that struck me pretty early in World’s Okayest Oracle (Reluctantly) Seeks Demon, was that there was no internal barrier to a relationship between Gwen and Hugh, it was all external. Hugh and Gwen met once just before the most humiliating moment of Gwen’s life. But as soon as Gwen walks back into Hugh’s life 20 years later, it’s very clear that he’s all in. There will be no third act break up, he will make any and all adjustments to keep Gwen in […]

CBR Bingo: Bird – in All the Feels, Lauren is described as a bird-ish looking woman, and is eventually nicknamed Wren by Alex – which leads to both some miscommunication and hurt feelings and the resolution thereof. Overall, this series is light, fluffy, and mostly falls within the bounds of the suspension of disbelief. Each book follows a different actor (or two actors in the last book) from the fictional Gods of the Gates television series and their romantic interest. Each book takes place nearly […]

Second Chance Romance

A long time ago, we used to be friends

Second Chance Romance by Olivia Dade

December 16, 2025 by Emmalita 2 Comments

The tide of Puritanism may be rising, but Olivia Dade is saying no f*cking thanks to that. I did not count all the instances of swearing, but I enjoyed every single one. I love the way Dade writes, I love the way she creates characters, relationships, and worlds. When I read Second Chance Romance I noted that it was exactly what I needed in that moment and that I had scream laughed a few times. Little did I know that just a few days after […]

All By My Elf

I Bought into Amazon’s Author Exploitation Again

Under the Mistletoe: Cruel Winter with You by Ali Hazelwood

Under the Mistletoe: Merry Ever After by Tessa Bailey

Under the Mistletoe: All by My Elf by Olivia Dade

Under the Mistletoe: Merriment and Mayhem by Alexandria Bellefleur

Under the Mistletoe: Only Santas in the Building by Alexis Daria

I mean, I assume it’s exploitive. It is Amazon. Having had some success with the Improbable Meet Cute collection for Valentines  Day, and, as someone who absolutely loves a Christmas novella, I paid for one (the Ali Hazelwood) and borrowed the other four of these Under the Mistletoe “get to know a romance author with a  free read” stories. I imagine Amazon is doing the same thing as telling someone to work for free for the exposure. I hope they were compensated in some way. […]

“Let me enjoy my vampire romance nonsense in peace.”

ZomRomCom by Olivia Dade

November 9, 2025 by RevGirlUtena Leave a Comment

“Do you ever read anything serious?” Good grief, Susan. Have you seen the state of the world lately? Let me enjoy my vampire romance nonsense in peace. -Random Facebook meme   The apocalypse is coming! Oh wait, it already happened. A decade ago, Zombies were loosed upon the Earth and they ate a LOT of people. Edie Brandstrup survived, but her parents did not. Now she is a forty-something (yeah!), plus-sized (HELL YEAH!) soap maker, who lives next door to a dude-bro named Chad (Boo!). […]

Cover of ZomRomCom by Olivia Dade

“Gods and goddesses above, he was dangerous, but not for the reasons she’d once feared.”

Zomromcom by Olivia Dade

November 7, 2025 by faintingviolet 1 Comment

I was unsure about Olivia Dade’s Zomromcom from the moment she shared in her newsletter that this was what she was working on. I’m not, generally speaking, a big paranormal romance person and certainly a book featuring a woman beginning a relationship with a vampire during a zombie attack certainly falls into that category. But I’ve had great experiences with Dade books previously and was willing to give this one a shot; it certainly didn’t hurt that its bright, fun cover qualified for the Purple Bingo Square.  We begin the story by being dumped into action in progress, and it really hampered my ability to sink into the book initially. Honestly, […]
