Clone Club

February 13, 2018 by yesknopemaybe 2 Comments

4.5 stars. Y’all should really read this book. I went into it not knowing much, just something vague about clones and murders, but hearing that it was highly recommended. And hoo-boy did it fucking deliver. This was probably my favorite book of the year so far and I’m going to be foisting it upon people for a while. Clones in Space

July 7, 2017 by G.D. Giant 2 Comments

In Six Wakes, The Dormire, a generational ship travelling to colonize the planet Athena, is manned by six clones and an AI. Clones are chosen to man the ship due to the fact that the journey to Athena will take hundreds of years.  And, unlike a human crew, when the clones die, the […]

This book was so weird/cool/strange/confusing/fascinating

March 27, 2017 by badkittyuno 6 Comments

This was some excellent science fiction, if you’re in the market! Six Wakes starts on the spaceship Dormire,  sometime in the future, where cloning has become a basic way of life. The book opens with the rules of cloning, including rules against suicide (with the exception of doctor-approved euthanasia), outlining inheritance law and banning certain genetic modifications. It’s also illegal to have more than one clone in existence at a time. So on the spaceship Dormine, we have six (surprisingly well-fleshed out) characters, all of whom are reawakening as […]
