I read Orleana’s review and promptly bought the book. It was a lovely $.99 read. I recommend it if you are looking for a gentle, sweet romance between two nice guys. Henry’s boyfriend of 8 years suddenly dumps him because he is “fat and old.” Henry goes to the gym to get his boyfriend back, and in the process comes out of the shell he had tucked himself into. Reed, a ridiculously good looking personal trainer, takes Henry on as a client and as a […]
Great action packed historical fiction with a dash of romance
This book just really did it for me. It is billed as a historical M/M romance, which I suppose it is, but if you’re looking for a proper ‘romance novel’, this is not it. In 1893 New York, Emlyn Strickland is the US Treasury’s best man for spotting counterfeit money. Emlyn testified against Darrow Gardiner 6 years ago, and Gardiner has spent the in between years in Sing Sing Prison nursing a grudge. Darrow feels betrayed by his old counterfeiting partner, August McKee, and uses […]
Do you prefer your coffee with some Angst?
This is my second Annabeth Albert novella. I really liked it, although not nearly as much as the first. She packs a LOT of angst into this one. Angst is not my preferred flavor, but I still enjoyed it, and read it very fast. Like the other novella, the set up for the story is very straightforward, and both characters likeable. Robby is a Portland hipster who owns his own coffee cart. He has a crush on David, a daily regular customer. They dance around […]
Good, not great, M/M romance
I have really mixed feelings about this book, but overall really enjoyed it. If I had the luxury of time to sit and read it in a single sitting I would have. Every time I picked it up I found myself sucked in. But strangely, when I wasn’t reading it, I had trouble finding the compulsion to pick it back up. This is a contemporary New Adult M/M story. Refreshingly, both characters are already out, and at no time question their sexuality. (I know there […]
A shaky start to a great series.
ETA 4/21/16: Due to a boo-boo that I made (marking two reviews in a row as #46), this review is my actual Cannonball, even though I thought it was this one. Whoops! I have sooooooo many thoughts about this series. I don’t even know where to start! If you haven’t heard of it yet, this series is making the rounds as The Next Big Thing (I think, with good reason). It was originally published on LiveJournal user freece’s blog as an ongoing serial and gained a […]
