The Packing List

A Romance Anthology Benefiting Reproductive Rights

The Packing List by Mia Hopkins, Angelina M. Lopez, Sarah T. Dubbs

January 8, 2026 by Emmalita Leave a Comment

There are twelve short stories in The Packing List and most of them range from ok to fantastic. The anthology is filled with romances between people over 40 and the proceeds go to reproductive health groups. Access to good reproductive healthcare is a sign of a healthy society and we are losing it. I’m so happy to see some of my favorite authors involved with this. I was impressed with the variety of romances – historical, queer, second chance, sci fi, and contemporary. Rather than […]

I dream of standing under an enormous tree with deep, gnarled roots

Tanked by Mia Hopkins

April 7, 2022 by Emmalita 1 Comment

Tanked is gorgeous. I had high expectations after I devoured the first two books in the series in 2 days, and I was still unprepared for Tanked. It is full of longing. The sex is plentiful, hot, and evolves as Angel and Deanna’s relationship evolves. The attention to detail is excellent. There are little hummingbird silhouettes in the breaks, and yes, they are meaningful. The third book in Mia Hopkins’ Eastside Brewery series, is set smack in the pandemic. The loneliness, isolation, and economic hardship are […]

Eastside Pride

Thirsty by Mia Hopkins

Trashed by Mia Hopkins

April 3, 2022 by Emmalita Leave a Comment

I have had Mia Hopkins’ Thirsty and Trashed on my Kindle for a long time. Now that the third book in the series, Tanked, is coming out this month, I have finally read them. These books are fantastic and if you haven’t you should read them now. Thirsty starts with Salvador “Ghost” Rojas standing on the street in his underwear. After serving a 5 year sentence for auto theft and car jacking, he’s couch surfing with a friend, but his friend has gotten them kicked […]

Best Women's Erotica of the Year, Volume 6 by Rachel Kramer Bussel

November 13, 2020 by Emmalita Leave a Comment

I didn’t entirely consider that I would be writing a review of erotica for the Cannonball Read audience when I requested Rachel Kramer Bussel’s Best Women’s Erotica of the Year, Volume 6 from NetGalley. I just thought about how much I wanted to read it. I got a copy of this arc from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I don’t generally review erotica because to do so in a meaningful way would get rather more revelatory than I usually do. With an anthology […]
