Super Sons V02 The Foxglove Mission by Ridley Pearson

April 5, 2021 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

The Super Sons series should be read back-to-back as it had been at least a year since reading book one (The Polarshield Project) and I had forgotten the action/plot of the book. This made reading book two, The Foxglove Mission, awkward to say the least. Book two of Ridley Pearson’s graphic novel series is obviously the “middle book.” There is the buildup, some action, but in the end, you know it is the diving board for you to jump into book three. It is not […]

Teen Lois has a long way to go before she becomes Lois Lane, great journalist

Lois Land and the Friendship Challenge by Grace Ellis

December 1, 2020 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I have an odd contradiction when it comes to my comic love. I prefer Marvel movies but prefer DC graphic novel stories. This might be since I have yet seen that many Marvel characters branched into middle readers and young adult graphic novels. (If you know some, please send my way!) Then I picked up Lois Land and the Friendship Challenge. I do not know if this was the second book in Grace Ellis’s series (or if it is a series), but the start of […]

This is me quitting this series.

November 30, 2017 by narfna Leave a Comment

Unless something changes and I hear the next book is great, I don’t think I will be reading any more books in this series, or by this author. Not for me. And this PAINS ME GREATLY. I love Superman. I love Lois & Clark. I love Lois Lane. I don’t know if the novelty has just worn off for me and her style has always been this way, or if I’ve changed, or if she really has lost steam, but I’m just not feeling this […]

Veronica Mars + Lois Lane = Bliss.

May 15, 2017 by Halbs Leave a Comment

Gwenda Bond’s Fallout is a wonderful mishmash of things that I love. First – the characters. Bond understands the characters of Lois Lane, Clark Kent, and that annoying itch to do the right thing, even if it’s not safe or convenient. The setting, high school, provides appropriate stakes for Lois’ origin story. She risks a lot to do good. It may not be the end of the world if she fails in her mission in the book, but there are real consequences. Finally, it was a fun […]

This series is fun, but not everything I wanted it to be.

August 1, 2016 by narfna Leave a Comment

I will be honest with you. I would probably quit this series if it just focused on Lois. I know that sounds terrible, but hear me out. The two things I like most about this series are Lois herself (great in any incarnation, that character is), and the burgeoning relationship between Lois and her internet friend slash boyfriend (?)”SmallvilleGuy”, who yes, is Clark Kent aka the future Superman. Everything else surrounding it? I do not care about. Really, at all. I do not care about any of […]

Lois Lane, never change.

June 26, 2015 by narfna Leave a Comment

So on the Batman/Superman divide, spectrum whatever you want to call it, I’m on the side of the Man in Blue. Have been since the fifth grade when Lois & Clark was my favorite TV show and my mom let me put Superman’s shield on my retainer. Also, the dark and broody thing has never really done it for me. I’m pretty much in agreement with John Green on this matter (“Batman is just a rich guy with an affinity for bats who is playing […]
