“Of course I’ve got a conscience, he’s sitting right next to me.”

June 22, 2017 by Mikki Blu 2 Comments

Jonah Pastern is a magician, a liar, a windwalker, a professional thief… which about sums up the character as we met him in ‘A Flight of Magpies’.  This book is set shortly after that one and is a linked story to that world.  You don’t necessarily have to read the Magpie trilogy to understand this book, but it certainly helps since many of the characters make an appearance here. Based on Jonah’s actions in the previous book, I wasn’t sure he would be a guy […]

One for Sorrow, Two for Joy

June 1, 2017 by Mikki Blu Leave a Comment

Danger in the air. Lovers on the brink. And we’re back for another magical, dangerous and hot as sin story with Lucien and Stephen in the third book of the Charm of Magpies trilogy.  If you haven’t read the first two books in the series, you really need to do so or you would be rather lost – plus they are well worth reading!  Lucien, Lord Crane, continues to be one of the hottest, most intelligent, carelessly elegant heroes I’ve had the pleasure to read […]

I want to know what it feels like to have crushes that could conceivably maybe one day turn into boyfriends

May 9, 2017 by Malin 2 Comments

4.5 stars Sixteen-year-old Molly Peskin-Suso has had a crush on twenty-six different guys (number twenty-six is Lin-Manuel Miranda, and I share your infatuation, girl!), but these crushes have never really developed into anything and she’s never kissed anyone. Molly’s twin sister Cassie is very encouraging and tries to get her to just “go for it”, but Cassie has had flings with a number of girls, and is a lot more outgoing and confident than Molly. While they are twins, the sisters have vastly different body […]

Gay romance, burnt food, and examinations of masculinity

March 4, 2017 by yesknopemaybe Leave a Comment

3.5 stars. I love a good M/M romance and have been trying to seek out more queer romances. This one looked delightful and it did not disappoint. What I didn’t know going into this book was that one of the characters is trans which means that this is officially my first trans romance! I really liked that Ginsberg being trans wasn’t the story, it was just one small part of the story. Former logger and all-around manly man Derrick inherited his parent’s B&B after they […]

A Reluctant Inappropriate Earl

March 3, 2017 by Mikki Blu 4 Comments

Warning: Contains hot m/m sex between a deeply inappropriate earl and a very confused magician, dark plots in a magical version of Victorian England, family values (not the good kind), and a lot of swearing. This was such a magical, steamy, witty, entertaining read!  Having read a couple M/M historical romance by Cat Sebastian, I was prompted by Ellepkay to check out Ms Charles books.  Thanks for that recommendation – I wasn’t disappointed!  This first book in the series had me hooked pretty much from […]

This book was SO MUCH FUN. I want to read it again.

February 25, 2017 by narfna 6 Comments

I started this book at lunch yesterday, got sixty pages in, and then read the rest of it in a frenzy as soon as I got home from work. I even forgot to eat dinner. Guys, I NEVER forget to eat dinner. I’m thinking about what I’m going to eat for dinner immediately after lunch is over. Sometimes lunch the day before. I mean, I did eventually remember to eat, but only after I finished the book around 8:30. Only the really good books make […]
