Breastfeeding is a controversial subject. Should you do it in public? Why should you nurse in public if I do not wish to see it? When do you stop? Should you force the child when they are obviously not having it? Should you mix breastfeeding with bottle feeding? I could go on as I (as many women do) have strong opinions on the subject. However, regardless of your stand about breastfeeding I think we can all agree that the book The Breast Is Yet to Come: Cartoons for Nursing Moms by Howard J. Bennett and Jan Bennett will be a good gift book for new moms or people who breastfeed.
Now, maybe you’re also looking for a new grandmother gift. Or a “remember when” we did this gift. Or a funny book to give to your crazy aunt who never had children and you want to remind them why they made the right choice as breastfeeding is only one of the insane trips during motherhood. But regardless of if you want a gift, are a new mother or looking for a giggle this is a fun book.
Amy Albright illustrates multiple situations that one might deal with while breastfeeding. We have the mother who is being bitten, the woman who calls the doctor and learns that “a cracked nipple isn’t an emergency” (um … .excuse you?), we have the dog telling the woman “I’ve five … and they have teeth,” the dad who wants some happy time and mom and baby are passed out, and then the baby is finally asleep so not releasing “it” as mom goes through airport security to name a few.
Women’s breasts are seen and “fantasy” humor of precarious situations the baby has found itself in are shown. Read via an online reader copy and by the time I post this review it will be available for y’all out there.
