I am always leery when I am told that I don’t have to start off with the first book in a series since they can be both read as standalones. The witches deserved a better story

Is it just me or are mediocre books the hardest to review? This book was a perfectly fine way to spend a few evenings, but it didn’t leave a lasting impression.
