As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride by Cary Elwes

August 13, 2018 by Halbs Leave a Comment

Some quick facts that you need to know about me: I turn 35 this year, I loved The Princess Bride as a kid because he looked like Zorro and as a Hispanic kid I loved Zorro, I love pro-wrestling, and I didn’t like The Princess Bride as an adult. If you’ve ever driven from Austin to Dallas, you know it’s hell. First, because you’re sitting in traffic on I-35, and second, because you’re leaving Austin for Dallas. (Just kidding. Dallas has a cool skyline!) I […]

“This is true love. You think this happens every day?”

As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride by Cary Elwes, Joe Layden, Rob Reiner

First: I hit my goal! 120 books! I love The Princess Bride and I couldn’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve seen the movie so this was right up my alley. Cary Elwes, Wesley, put together his memories of shooting the beloved classic and intersperses his recollections with that of his cast mates. My College Boyfriend Looked Like Him

As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of the Princess Bride by Cary Elwes, Joe Layden

August 29, 2017 by ASKReviews 2 Comments

Best for: Readers who like to learn about the behind-the-scenes world of film-making but aren’t looking for salacious gossip. In a nutshell: Sweet actor writes sweet book about sweet film. Line that sticks with me: “But there was no hiding for Andre. When you are that big, there is no possible disguise; no way to shrink into the background.” Why I chose it: I recall it getting good reviews in the cannonball read previously, and it happened to be on sale. Win win! Review: Long […]

As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of the Princess Bride by Cary Elwes and Joe Layden

The Princess Bride is my favourite film. Probably of all time. Ask me to name my favourite book, and I really wouldn’t be able to choose, as that would very much depend on genre, my mood, the weather, what I’d eaten recently and I would frankly have trouble even narrowing down a top 10. But my favourite film is The Princess Bride. I have loved it since I first discovered it back in the late 80s (or possibly very early 90s, I can’t say exactly), […]
